Well? With the double standards when it comes to divorce, dating and a bunch of other social stereotypes, does it feel that women are taking full advantage of their gender and at the same time claiming equal treatment?
Re: Do you think women have too many rights these days?
What do you mean by too many rights? Are you saying women have more rights than men or that they have more rights than they had before (but still not do not enjoy equity with men).
Re: Do you think women have too many rights these days?
This week in Saudi, women have gained the right to vote. In the same week a woman received 10 lashes for driving a car and another woman is awaiting trial for driving her kids to school.
So Saudi women can vote, but they can’t drive to the polling station!![]()
Re: Do you think women have too many rights these days?
Aren't you the guy who was just babbling about basic fundamental human rights in another thread?
You are just another man with phobia of women taking over the world. Get over it!
It's sad women to this day have to fight for their rights, gladly it's been resolved to a degree in the west but it doesn't change the fact that women all around the world still have to play catch up with men and are shot down at every opportunity either by the land law, religion, or you idiotic men.
eagerly awaits CM's reponse

Women in the West have every right that a man has. In fact, the legal system actually caters to them. What else needs to be resolved? If anything, the public needs to call the feminists out on their BS. Enough with playing the victim.
In other parts of the world there is inequality but I'm assuming CM is talking about the West.

I agree women have equal rights in the west but it comes with a cost. Western women are looked down upon by the rest of the world. They are seen as monsters or feminazis, when in fact they just want to be able to practice their rights. Of course, many women take advantage of this sytem! I have already said this a dozen times here on GS.
Also, please keep in mind Mr. CM likes to leave open ended questions here with no intention to engage in civil discussion. So I always question his intent. But blah, I am not arguing unless I know what he's really asking and who he is really targetting.

Yeah I think I've had this debate with you before. And from what I've seen CM's trolling is very subtle, almost an art form so it's wise to wait.

What? Do you really mean to say that there is complete economic, social, and political equality?
Re: Do you think women have too many rights these days?
Ermm What? Do you really mean to say that there is complete economic, social, and political equality?
Yes. Opportunity is equal. The fact that results are not equal speaks more about the priority of women than their ability or opportunity. Yes there are still those who are very sexist but overall, women do not dominate the upper echelons of politics and business because they prioritize life over work. Men tend to dedicate more hours to their careers because it is directly tied to their ability to find an attractive mate, whereas women work just to work.
Re: Do you think women have too many rights these days?
I agree with parts of your post, but saying that there is equal opportunity is a little far fetched. May be you meant to say that the laws are equal? Because i am seeing way too many women who are highly educated, their top priority is work, but get left behind because the social constraints still follow them because their women.
When an employer see's a woman applying for a job, he will automatically offer her less pay, because she's a woman.
The issue of glass-ceiling. You can't just say it's the women not wanting to work hard enough, there is so much in-depth history behind why and how women gained their rights. The laws maybe changing but that doesn't mean the public perception sees women as equal.
I mean look at what happens when women run for office (at any level) the media just can't get over how expensive her clothes must be, or who her stylist is and pay no attention to their ideology for public policy. But when a man runs, there is no question to how much his suit must of cost, or what he likes to do in his free time. That to me is a clear sign that inequality still exists.
Re: Do you think women have too many rights these days?
Exactly! that’s why i said equal opportunity for women comes with a cost in the west. Social constraints make it harder for women to achieve the same status as men especially in the world of professionals. But Gaia, I see it changing.. so that’s great! :k: Glad we don’t have more CMs to sabotage our efforts

Yes I was referring to the laws. I've not heard of women being offered less salary (at least not people around my age). I'm not sure that I agree with you about public perception, at least not from what I've seen personally and any reading I've done on the subject.

It does happen.. I have seen it. Statistics show men and women in the same profession earn different incomes. women reportedly make less for the same work.

Stop it
Re: Do you think women have too many rights these days?
The public perception part definitely applies. I work in a male dominated field, although I don't think so far I've been denied any specific opportunities because of my sex there's a fine line I have to walk everyday in the way I behave. I can't be too business like or formal because then all the men think I'm ***chy. And if I'm too friendly and outgoing then I'm considered a flirt. I've also spent time on the field where operators will straight up not take orders from me because I'm a woman or make lude comments (ps I'm hardly looking sexy in my blue oversized safety overalls, steel toed boots and safety hat). I dress very carefully too, don't dress up too much because if start looking pretty at work then people make comments about it and can't dress too dowdily because appearances do affect peoples impression of you.
I think its definitely gotten much better and the laws are there to protect women but until the public perception changes we will never achieve equality.

Very true! I used to dress all nice and professional but now I have learned it just plays against you. So now I pretty much look like crap when I come to work. I don't even brush my hair, lol. I can't be too talkative and I can't be too quiet either. I like the fact that my coworkers respect me for my work. I have established my place so it's all good.
