^Answer my question. Religion is interpreted to your liking. I could care less how many people follow it in its true sense. That doesn't even make sense. I am talking about women's rights in Islam (Quran and Sunnah) that apparently Zobia thinks don't exists in the west. The West has surpassed any religion in terms of giving women their rights.

Because Islam clearly says men have rights over women. Women's rights are nullified if their father/husbands deny their right to practice them. So a woman's fate essentially sits in her father's or her husband's palm. Should I say they are psuedo rights?

^Who's asking you to follow their culture or law? leave the west! Nobody in the muslim lands is too keen on following the west anyway. You shall like what you'll find there.

so i am not talking about hypocrites. though in this world it will hurt me (badly) but I believe on the existence of ALLAH SWT the sovereign...so if not this world, then hereafter.

u know i agree…here is the reasoning why.
In Islam, if women is asked to take 8th of her ex-husband’s wealth then she should take only this much. west has gone extreme (by splitting someone’s hard earned wealth into half) and so is east (where no one follows islam, and dont even bother giving her anything)

Womens rights were introduced by islam and this is a fact that the west agrees to
Highest divorce rates are in the west
Highest rape rates are in the west
Majority kids in the west are unaware of their fathers compared to islamic countries
women in the west are seen to be sex objects
so what women rights are you talking about?? there's a difference between rights and unlimited freedom so stop being a theorist and be practical

Open a thread in Religion and Scripture and I will be more than happy to discuss it with you. Islam along with other religions have not given any practical rights to women. I have discussed this here before..
Right to divorce - no not even, they have a right to khula that too with husband's permission. West gives women as much right to divorce as men.
Right to inherit - right, how much of it? In the west, wealth/estate is split in half at the time of divorce. You can dispute it in the court.
Right to work outside of home- Only if her husband allows.
For all other psuedo rights Islam gives to women, they need their husband's permission.

I can't judge about work and stuff...but when it comes to child-rearing/giving birth/child custody...I think its VERY unfair against men.
Did you know that if a woman gets pregnant from a man whos NOT her husband/boyfriend, and she lets the guy believe he's the father and his name is on the birth certificate and all...even if its proved later on that he's NOT the biological father, he's still responsible for teh child...
If a woman gets pregnant during a one night stand wtih some guy she hardly knows, she's legally allowed to have an abortion even if by some chance the dude enters the picture and wants to have the kid.

It is, there's no argument there. they are able to do that because they have MORE rights here in the west. I laughed at Zobia's comment that Islam gives more rights to women than the west

It is not applicable until 2015. And the lashes were condemned by King Abdullah so hence there were no lashes either. Get your facts straight.

How about if you get a divorce in Islam the husband owes the wife nothing other than the Mahr. So if you spent 20 years of your life loving and caring for your husband with no career or other options and he decides to divorce you and trade you in for a younger model he owes you not a single penny. How is that fair?

But Muslim men are pure and would never treat their wives like that and Muslim women are so pure nad naik that they will never expect more than that and a Muslim couple together is so pious and wonderful that they will never get divorced. 
On a serious note 
yes western society isnt’ exactly fair to men OR women…but in Muslim societies, men almost always have the upper hand.

She can do that even if the man is her husband. I think it is justified/fair. The 9 months are on her, not on him.
