So Do you:faizy:…I mean everyday..all the time..I know in Pakistan, there isnt anything like that…but I think for women somewat wearing gold ki chooriyan means she is married…and the other good indicator is when she is surrounded by little kiddos saying amma…mummy…mom…to her…

Over here the churiyan thing is thrown out the window as I have seen even like younge teenagers in dozen sone ki Churiyam( We know your mom has a plenty:blush:…)…But really wat do u guys think? Do you wear the rings? If yes then why?..If no!! Then Why too??
Re: DO U Married peeplan out there Wear wedding Rings??
I wear my engagement ring and my husband wears his band. We didn't do separate wedding bands.

Re: DO U Married peeplan out there Wear wedding Rings??
I don't have a special wedding ring, but I always wear a ring on my left ring finger.. my husband got two rings from my parents, one frm engagement and the other at the wedding, but its one of those gaudy, desi ones that look out of place in pretty much any setting.
Re: DO U Married peeplan out there Wear wedding Rings??
I used to wear my engagement ring all the time. When I got married, I switched it to the right hand, and started wearing my wedding ring on the left ring finger. Doing chores around the house, they started bothering me, so I stopped wearing 'em altogether. :-\ Now I go through on/off phases...sometimes just the engagement ring, and sometimes the wedding...and once in a while both. :D

What is the problem you think i think you have?
Re: DO U Married peeplan out there Wear wedding Rings??
I didnt know that was supposed to show that peeplans r married:)
Re: DO U Married peeplan out there Wear wedding Rings??
I do wear my wedding ring regularly. I am kinda proud that it still fits perfectly after so many years (at least the finger hasn't gotten fat). :-)
Just FYI, while I don't think generally desis here are very disciplined on this issue, but almost all Caucasians men I meet are very clear about this: if you are married you MUST wear a wedding ring, and if you don't wear one, then it means you are not married. Desis, somehow have this hang-up where they associate wearing wedding band/ring with wearing jewelry ("oh, I hate wearing any kind of jewelry"). Or on the other hand you have those who simply go over the top with multiple huge stone-encrusted rings on many fingers. I am all for personal choice and everything, but arghhhh!!
Re: DO U Married peeplan out there Wear wedding Rings??
The husband and I both wear our rings and feel weird if we take them off. It feels like something is missing if we dont.
Re: DO U Married peeplan out there Wear wedding Rings??
^ Yeah my hadn feels naked if ther’es no ring on it ![]()
Faisal, it’s just not part of our culture I guess.. I think because in the past, a desi marrid woman was easily distinguishable from an unmarried girl because of teh way she would dress and she wore more jewelery, even after the “navi navi dulhan” period where the newlywed bride drsses up in all her jahez outfits and sits around made up…but like Amber said that nowadays since individual choice is taking over, you’ll c dressed up single girls and simple married women…

arrogance, Sara, arrogance! nothing else. ![]()
Re: DO U Married peeplan out there Wear wedding Rings??
Arrogance eh? I would’ve thought it was some identity crisis. But I guess arrogance is it :k:

Re: DO U Married peeplan out there Wear wedding Rings??
So your reason is…wat I understand..is it because the gora peeplan’s wear it ?..Or you just HAVE to, like u said?I wanted to know the reason?
Not all desis wear a lot of jewelery all the time..I sure don’t…even to parties.
U do know that not all of the desi’s recieve a real wedding ring( the gora kind) on their weddings…I would say that its couple’s choice…wat they decide themselves. Culturally, there hasnt been anything except for the girl wearing gold chooriyan, that showed that she is married. Nothing except for the nikkah nama for the guys that shows that he is married:cb:…
But anyway I would say that it also is dependent on the behavior of the couple too.Are they acting like they are or arent married:)
Re: DO U Married peeplan out there Wear wedding Rings??
wedding ring is a cultural thing, no real eason to wear it or to not wear it. up to personal choice I suppose.
