the married ladies in my in-law's family all wear a sort of wedding chain with black beads (those indian wedding chains)
i got one during my wedding too but i got rid of it immediately :D the idea of walking around and being mistaken for a hindu was just too much. anyways i wear hijab when i go out so who cares abt chains and necklaces.

nopsey.. I lost it when I tried wearing it for a while because of hubby but now that I have found it I am keeping it safe and secure!

hubby used to be adamant about it but I am not a jewelry person especially rings so he gave up.. I despise rings so I coulnd't get myself to like it... may be someday I will start wearing it although I doubt it!!!

and a couple comprises of people, 2 persons, so it becomes a personal choice that both are comfortable with.

Myself I am not a jewelry person too, so I understand completely…The most I can do are earrings ..which is if I remember.:halo: …And for me to keep a ring that is so valuable too…was like trying to constantly keep it in check!..I believe in Clean, simple and Practical most of the times…I am just amazed how some people wear such jewelery all the time…If I am working, I cant even think about keeping my hair open…and any jewelery I wear, its the first thing I take off as quickly as possible(sometimes even where ever I am at..I just take it off and in my purse:D)

i guess in western culture it holds the same position as the suter har thingie in indian culture does?
if the person look married, smells married and acts married he's probably married. if he doesnt he just has a tolerant wife.

Never worn apart from the wedding day! In my work environment, all sort of jewelry and metal chains were prohibited and this got stuck with me.

I didn't say that I wear a wedding ring because goras wear it. I wear it because I like to wear it. The comment about cultural differencs was a personal opinion and observation.
