Do u eat NON-Halal meat?

Re: Do u eat NON-Halal meat?

Mcdonald's is veggetarian. Why? b/c the stuff they use can't posibly be real meat, hence no issue of halal/haram. :D

jokes aside..erm.. i duno. i think it's a personal preference. I just don't get why someone who chooses to eat chicken/beef is considered to be weak or a worse person than someone who eats only halal? These same people will do other things that u can't do islamically but look down on others for their diet.

Anyways, at home I cook only halal meat/chicken because I like to share food with others and everyone can eat halal meat, but not everyone can eat non-halal kwim?

Re: Do u eat NON-Halal meat?

Where we live or have lived, halal meat is readily available. In fact there are many restaurants, Pakistani, Chinese, Pizza, fat food, even burger places, that carry zabiha halal food. So we've never had that issue.

Re: Do u eat NON-Halal meat?

Oh, another thing
even though hubby and I will eat it.... i dont know if i'd want to raise my kids that way. Do u guy s think this is hypocritical or wrong, taht id ont want them to do what I do? Im confuzzled.

Wow! I'd never even thought on this topic before or even known much about it. ive eaten halal food only all my life, there are quite a few places that sell halal food where i live. nowim curious as to wat fod woud have been provided for me and my family if halal food wsnt easily accessible for us. good topic :)

Re: Do u eat NON-Halal meat?

Sara, It's not hypocrytical because you are clear about your actions. But if they see you eat it then they'll ask you why they can't. So with kids I have seen that best is to lead by example.

Re: Do u eat NON-Halal meat?

to be honest i have had non halal meat when i was a kid only once or twice i dont know why as i was quite young , but most probably because where we lived there were hardly any food joints let alone halal.

however now i have never eaten non halal meat and would prefer not to as i know i wont die if i dont eat meat.

and i dont understand as to how we can eat kosher meat , coz isnt that meat blessed by their rabbis and since we dont believe in all that how can we eat their meat ????

apologies if i am wrong

Who said we don't believe on Jews & Torah ?

Re: Do u eat NON-Halal meat?

we do believe in the torah bt not the one they are following right ?

ok i dont wnt this to turn in a religious debate

They are following what ?

Anyone ..Muslims & Jews has more similarities then any other religion. We can also eat their slaughter food known as "Kosher" ..

Re: Do u eat NON-Halal meat?

hmm ok

:rotfl: :hugz:

My uncle was also telling us how in some places, they have kalma written on the machine and that’s what they use to provide ‘halal’ meat.. but the thing is, if we are buying that meat with the intention of eating halal and whatever is going on behind the scenes is unknown to us, then I think it’s the niyat that matters and it would still be halal.

Kosher is allowed. I remember one of my coworkers was a strict Jew and would not eat anything but Kosher meat. During work lunches and dinners, he and I would be the only ones ordering something vegetarian while the rest indulged in their meat/pork/whatever. That really surprised me because I didn't know some Jews were also so cautious about eating the allowed stuff like we Muslims are.

Re: Do u eat NON-Halal meat?

I eat halal only and so does my family. Always have done. Alhamdulilah now it is not a problem as there are lots of places to buy halal meat and foodstuffs from.

When I was at uni, the area where I lived there was no provisions to buy halal meat at all. I was in a very ‘English’ area, so I remained a vegetarian. In the last year there has been a surge in Arab people in the area, so now there are lots of halal eating places and butchers. So no problem.

Back when my daada jaan came to England, again there was no halal butchers or eating places. So daada abu used to buy chickens and butcher them himself. Other people use to come as well to buy the meat.

My pupo is now a vegetarian all due to the fact that she remembers the chickens running amok in the back garden :rotfl: She actually looks scared bless her when she sees meat. Funny because she is in her early 40’s.:cb:

Yeah that's true. It is because method they adopt when slaughtering the animal, is practically the same as the one that Muslims use. Jews do not believe in stunning the chicken. Although they obviously do not read the kalima over the animal, they still drain as much blood as they can from the animal by slitting the animals neck in most cases and letting the blood drain out of the body.

Re: Do u eat NON-Halal meat?

I am saddened to hear that people don’t have any issues while eating non-halal meat. It is just wrong and goes against any Islamic teachings. If Jews can be strict about eating only Kosher then why can’t Muslims put their foot down and ask for zabihah meat. Islam is a complete way of life and these details, however small they may seem, make or break a Muslim’s belief.

Pork/pig is forbidden (haram/non-halal) so don’t evven think that you can make it halal by slaughtering it in the Islamic way.

Personally, I don’t like beef so I don’t eat it but whatever meat I eat/will eat in future should be zabihah at all costs. NO argument about it!

Allah has given Muslims good things to eat an has given them the way to use them in a proper manner. Their food will never run out as many non-Muslims will keep on eating the meat that is not supposed to be eaten by us like hog, pig, whales (esp. in Japan).

Please, please think about this before considering eating out in places that don’t have proper meat meant for Muslims. Those places/dishes are not your friends if they don’t consider your wishes. This is applicable to alcohol, drugs, too which are clearly not meant for Muslims in any situatuion.

Re: Do u eat NON-Halal meat?

^ I just don't get why one's personal diet is something that others feel they have a right to get get all hot and bothered about?

They're not forcing you to eat meat, nor i am assuming they are feeding it to you.

People need better things to get sad over. In the end, it's all a choice YOU and your family make and noone has the right to say what you do is breaking YOUR belief.

lol. Because we're hypocrites. We try to show our greater superiority by how strictly we follow the observed 'rules' of the religion when our hearts are far from pious.

In my opinion, morality, spirituality, is not defined by what you eat. It's by how you've lived your life and acted towards yourself and everyone around you.

So do I eat non-halal food? Yes, all the time. And I love it. I love Japanese food, chinese food, Spanish tapas, Ethopian, French, Moroccan... you name the country's cuisine, I'll give it a shot.

But I respect the preferences of others, and never impose my choices on others. If my cousins who do eat halal are coming over for dinner, it's halal meat all the way as per their preference. I think the values of 'respect' are what many of us forget to practice on a regular basis.

Re: Do u eat NON-Halal meat?

I believe on oneness of ALLAH and that's enough for me. Rest enjoy the life without destroying others !

The concept of halal/haram in Islam exists for a reason. There are clear rules mentioned according to Shariah and still many people pick and choose what suits their needs and comfort.

Don’t worry about it though. In the end, we are all answerable for what we do, eat, drink, etc.. one’s responsible for their own actions.

Re: Do u eat NON-Halal meat?

i never eat anything that is not halal.
zabeeha is a diff story.
