During the summer when I was working at a tourist attraction in London I'd always get Indian tourists asking me "You Indian?" and then get all dissapointed when I would say no.
You know in the beginning, when I came here, it did not matter to me what I was called.
But now I can help feeling happy.
I think I have adopted typical filthy pressure of being a visible minority, which most of you inherit (being born/schooled in west)
dude, the sheer number of fobs/freshies rocking italy soccer jerseys in UK and US indicates clearly that they are not immune to it either. and for some reason, all of them either have an italian mother or grew up in italy but can't speak italian worth anything
Yeah often by Arabs, who think i am an arab. And it is annoying bcoz they think they are better looking than us. Sometimes i tell the person, if you wear shalwar qameez no one will question that u r not a Pakistani.
Hey what do they say about Americans, geography and not having a passport? lol
Looks like its very a American thing to name anyone with bit of Eastern touch an Arab? They really are obsessed with the Middle East, aren't they? lol
One thing that I find very interesting from my little experience is that Arabs in UK, never ever mistake an Asian girl for an Arab, no matter how 'fair' she is, how dramatic her eyeliner is or how exotic her Hijab looks. Yet they'd identify an Arab if even she/he doesn't the conventional Arab looks. Its like a gora person can't tell a difference between Indian and Pakistani, yet we Pakistanis and Indians can instantly tell the difference.
Besides, how many desi folks can tell a difference between a white German and a French, an Irish and an English person, if we don't know the names and they don't have accents.

85% arabs are brown.
btw, I can tell the difference between Irish and English or English and American...I can't tell the difference between German and French or other Europeans.

Yeah exactly. This reminds of stories of some Asian girls would all he he he people think I'm an Arab because of my fair skin colour, and I would say if they're mistaking you for an Arab on basis of your skin colour, then they probably know jack about the Middle East. Not many people realize this but Arabs are actually very diverse. They come in all shapes, sizes and colours. I've noticed that in Desis we have this very bizarre perception that All Arabs are fair.

Pakistanis are so good looking!!!!
I feel bad for people who were considered to be something else.
don't be sad, looks are not everything you know. personality matters.
