No one knew that the plates under the earth were moving and this caused this earthquake.
As technology improves, people will be able to predict where and when an earthquake will happen - so the next time precautions can be made, and innocent lives spared.
A rich man with money can have a heart plant and live longer, whereas the poor person would die untreated - do we still call this the will of God?? Very unfair is it not.
You don’t need to go as far as Muzefrabad to show us what “mullahs” think about this disaster. Right here in your beloved United States there are people like Pat Robertson and other ultra conservative right wing Christians Radicals openly saying on public airwaves that it was the wrath of God on Muslims because we don’t believe Jesus is a Son of God. I would like to read your comments about them.
Scary…. Very scary indeed!
This self righteous sort of attitude is one of the reasons why Mullahs get so much stick.
I have met many people here in Karachi who have very similar views to the cleric Mamaof3 is talking about. These are the same people who were GLOATING about the tsunami, saying how its an azaab and how these non muslims were punished for their sins and how our Islamic Republic of Pakistan was saved. They were also the same people gloating over the hurricanes Rita and Katrina and how the big satan USA was being punished. Now they talk about children deserving to die...animals.
NO ONE except God can know the reasons behind such disasters. To say otherwise is shirk. If God started handing out tit for tat punishments, our pakeeza Pakistan would have been destroyed long time ago as well as the rest of the world.
To say that the earthquake was a punishment of God for all the evil being committed by the human race is blasphemous to say the least. Here I am not questioning if it was Allah or Jesus(as Pat claims).
When people take the example of S & G.. God was willing to forgive the city for even 10 good people who lived in the town. I think the conversation God had with Abraham should be an eye-opener. (I dont remember the exact sequence of events but this is the gist I suppose)
Are you saying that the areas did not have the requisite number of good people !!!
then there is a hadith that says that those who die by being crushed under a falling building r to be considered martyrs (the hadith includes others like those who die by drowning, epidemics, etc)....
Lajawab, you ask WHY is that disturbing? Because this religious leader, standing amidst ruins, devastation and loss of his own people - tells them that they deserved it. And for quite an idiotic reason. Since he has influence over his flock, its more than just "an opinion", its passing judgement on his people and proliferating ignorance.
And Agent Smith, I'm sure we could have a lively and long discussion about the ignorance and idiocy of Pat Robertson and his ilk....but its a bit off-topic yes? If you want to discuss Christian fundamentalists, open a new thread. But since you asked, YES they are every bit as scary as that Mullah. However, if one of them had gone down to the Katrina-ravaged areas and started pontificating on how the people deserved it, the public outcry against them would be huge I think. Not to excuse them in any way for their views and their ignorance but do you see what I mean?
OK- the mullah did the wrong intrepretation of the disaster- do he represent all the ulema- no i dont think so-
Many big ulema have issued a very sensible and balanced statements- the people did suffer and it was ALLAh's azab- but the reason why HE sent it thier and not any where else is known only to ALLAH-
i hear that in many madares in kashmir where children were buried alive- those young shuhdah kept on reciting the quran until there was no more life left in them-
and there were people who died while watching some stupid show on cable- -- it was azab for some and rehmat for some-
The best we should do is *astafar * leave the rest on ALLAH--
This is what MOST people thought was the case but some on this thread just couldn’t admit it. You see if we blame one mullah it doesn’t mean all are bad. And I don’t think true muslims should give blind support to all mullahs. They are humans too and can make mistakes.
...the problem my dear funguy...is that the hardest-hit of the earthquake victims are not the most educated. They therefore look to their local religious leaders for guidance. And it seems that my initial post outlines the general opinoin of the Mullahs in the area most affected by the quake (Mussafarabad). I have met some Islaamic leaders/scholars/Mullahs who deserve the utmost of respect...this post is NOT referring to "Ulema" but rather the local Mullahs of the area.
^ ur conversation was with the local mullahs of the area????
if not, why do u thnk they hold the same opinion????
if yes, why do u think they have this opinion about the people who they have lived ni all their life????
perhaps they knew them better????
knew what they did, right or wrong, something that u r not aware of????
and its not mussafarabad, it is muzaffarabad.... just correcting.... :)
sorry for spelling errors. yes, this family friend is very disillusioned with Islaam due to the preachings/teachings of the religious leaders in his area which is within mere miles of Muzzafarabad, they are all preaching along the same lines as my initial post explained. Why do I think they have this opinion? Because they are uneducated and ignorant.
I have heard that Prophet Muhammad :saw: had prayed to Allah for his followers (ummat) not to be punished for their sins in this world? That they be saved from azaab in this world and be dealt with in the next world?
lets see what is more probable…the fact that a mullah knew EVERYTHING about ALL the people who died in the earthquake and ofcourse all of them were doing something wrong…and the mullah KNOWS their intentions/sins etc etc.
or could it be that he is actually being judgemental saying they deserved it to induce fear and to mobilize others?
^ just as u r being judgemental about them (the mullahs)????
atleast he dealt with the ppl and knew them (to what ever degree it was), we all have no idea about who these mullahs r, have never seen or heard of them, and we r here criticizing them just cuz one person FEEELS that this is their view....
