Wife beating anytime and for any reason is never allowed in Islam. There is however a condition in Noble Verse 4:34 where Allah Almighty seems to allow the husband to beat his wife, and that is after he gives her two warnings to stop showing ill-conduct and disloyalty toward him. There is however a disagreement with some Muslim scholars on the interpretation of the word "beat" in the Noble Verse, because it could literally mean "hit" or "leave".
Any reasonable human being can tell you that if the literal meaning could be either "hit" or "leave", then look to other examples in the faith to make a determination. Failing other examples, look to the verified example of our beloved prophet who lived the life of a devout muslim. Did he raise a hand to his women? Ever?

Theek her dad is going to abandon her, and she will be a divorcee, but she is living in Amreeka...the accursed Amreeka where a single woman can live by her own, even if it is hard. She will make friends, and she will live a life. Theek hai baatain banain gi, but I'd rather have the baatain than the fist of a baby killer across my face. And if her dad does abandon her in a situation like this, then good riddance. But frankly, I've seen many families where the parents fully support the divorcee daughter and her child after a stupid piece of shyt raises his hand on her even once.

Disease? You make it sound as if certain men don't have free will to control themselves and thus they are programed to beat women hence they are not totally responsible for their actions. And men don't own women, when you say "their women" I hope you aren't 'their' in this sense.

Why are you taking things in a wrong sense? Disease here can mean anything, it can be their ignorance, their criminal behaviour, lack of control over their anger and all these factors are very common among men.
and again you are not understanding the statement, when it is said "their women" it means their mothers, sisters, wives and daughter, and it doesn't mean that you own someone by saying their men or their women.

when i said friends i meant a support group. she really won't be the only person, in this day and age who decided to split from her abusive husband. again, she has no kid. granted that she splits from him now.

Domestic abuse is not limited to any pind or any specific ethnic group. Many time i had to call police because a australian neighbour would be pi$$ed out of his mind and take it out on his partner. Similarily i have even seen men kicking their wives along with kids out in the middle of night. While she is nursing a black eye.
But the good thing that i see here is that it is considered just what it is: domestic violence. Instead of coercing women to be a nice forgiving soul why can't she just get rid of the ass? As somebody said if its between divorcing your partner or beating them, why not divorce?
For all the people who think her father is doing her favour, i hope you get beaten up while walking on the road for being a stupid shumuck. Then perhaps you would understand what loss of dignity is and how it is to continue living with that person.

How can you not know your wife is pregnant at 16 weeks unless you are never home!! Around 16 and 17 weeks you can find out the gender of the baby.
I hope the woman has a good family support system who can put her father in insane asylum along w/ her husband so she can restart her life.
instead of bashing and arguing amongst ourselves, we need to realize that this truly is a problem in our culture. it has become such a common thing in households now that it should no longer be taboo to talk about. we need to create support centres and groups where these women can go to without having to fear for their life and know that they and their children will be helped and will be given a roof over their heads until they can stand on their own.
all you girls that are sticking up for the right of the woman to get out of the relationship, get a divorce and move on with her life - it's a noble thing for you to feel that way. but how many of you have been in a relationship where you have been abused (physically, emotionally) by your husband? it's easy to say to another woman that what she is doing is ruining her life and that she needs to take a stand and get out of the relationship. if you haven't worn the shoes, you don't know what it feels like to walk in them.
there are a million things that will run through a woman's mind before she will even consider leaving her husband, nevermind getting a divorce. she'll think about her childen, about her mother and father and she'll want to make it work for the better of her own family. because remember, he'll always say sorry and promise never to do it again after he's abused you.
but good for those women who have the courage and will in them to leave an abusive relationship. and living in canada, america, europe, even in pakistan..you will always find support in your community for you to be able to move on with your life and support yourself and children. you don't need a man to help you live. you're stong enough to do it yourself.
I know how hard it is...it took me over 10 years to ditch my first husband. Its a very hard thing to do most esp when you've been convinced that you "deserve" what you get yeah? and I'm almost embarrassed to say that I was earning a very nice living at the time...even given THAT, it was a very tough thing to do. You get so beaten down that leaving can be seen as more of an effort and a possibly futile one so you think you'd be better off sticking it out. Yup. Been there done that. And I thank the good lord each and every day that I found the strength within myself to get out of it....look at me now, I found a PRINCE of a man and we made 3 beautiful boyz together.
