when you wear hijab especially in the west you attract more attention on you and that’s the opposite of what a modest women wants…
when you wear hijab in the east you attract curiosity cause men wants to know what’s behind…
Now, my question to you, y a hijaabi woman even put herself in a position infront of a men to make him curious what is behind the hijaab or not?
if that was true men would oogle at hijabi…but they do..a lot!
would u like to give an example for that?
if that was true why have i been more harrassed when i was wearing hijab than not?
btw i dont wear a hijab that is why you didnt see me in a hijab in my pic. Why would u even ask such a thing? did i ever say that i wore a hijab…no i didnt.
it may seem to you and many other ppl on here that i do wear it but that’s only because i support the hijab and believe 100% that it is obligatory upon us to wear it. Most girls that dont wear hijab make up excuses for why we shouldnt be wearing it instead of admitting that it has been ordered by Allah (SWT) for us to do so. Just because I DONT wear it doesnt mean that i’m going to deny that it isnt a part of our religion. Im not going to sit here and justify my actions for not wearing a hijab. I refuse to make up excuses for not wearing it when i know very well that I should. Inshallah…may Allah give me strength to wear it very soon.
Hijab is much more than putting a scarf around your head. as EMM said, (she took the words right out of my mouth) hijab also includes the way you carry yourself around people as well. Wearing a hijab on your head and not lowering your gaze is not the proper Islamic hijab.
EMM u totally took the words right out of my mouth…this is exactly what i wanted to say but didnt know how to say it. You shouldnt even give men the opportunity to be curious. A man wont be curious unless you yourself have been put in such a situation.
thank you very much EMM
and yes i am learning. in fact as mentioned earlier i know that the hijab has been ordered upon me. im just hoping to oneday find the strength to do so..inshallah.
I have so much respect for girls that find the courage to wear hijab in times like this. May Allah keep you in his protection always.
It just takes a lot of experience from all sorts of situation to actually understand and have courage to fight back with these kind of issues. I have seen A LOT that actually i might write in my journal regarding hijaab and being muslim among non-muslim society. Trust me, if no one else, Allah is always there to help and guide a perosn to the right path, all it takes is a pure niyaat.
I pray for you AE and insha'allah one day u will make the rigth decision for yourself!
Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) went through the worst of times. Surely your challenges are nothing in comparison. Yet he didnt disobey Allah’s commandments. You cant change what has been ordered to you just because it’s convenient. The more challenges you go through in this life as a muslim, the more rewards you will get in the hearafter (if you do what has been prescribed to you.)
Agree with AE on that 100 percent. A person should be strong enough to carry herself/himself around in a same way no matter what environment he/she is, specially when it comes to religion.
EMM, Angel EyEs, Girls like you are a RARE thing in today’s society. Bordering extinction.
Good work both of you.
Everyone keeps mentioning the fact that Guys Oogle at women.
Does anyone even know hwat Oogle means?
Its when you stare and look the opposite sex up and down, and if you didn’t control yourself, in some cases, you drool!! Thats what oogling is.
Now please care to explain me, who would in their right mind (even if they are looking at one) oogle over a no shaped, head to toe covered black fabric type thing walkiing down the street?
As compared to, the finely curved skin revealing, girl only wearing threads?
these challenges we face on a day to day basis is a test from Allah. It’s a test to see how strong you are in your deen and how much faith you have in Allah (SWT).
It is an obligatory thing and not something u may choose to do. I’ll give u the reason why some people say its obligatory and some don’t.
Most of the women who wear Hijab wear it because they know its obligatory so when someone asks them they say u know its obligatory (its clearly stated in Quaran and Hadiths…I don’t remember any Quranic verse but I’ll try to get it to u as soon as I can).
The rest of the women who don’t wear Hijab, when asked they do feel some kind of guilt but they totally cover it up by saying “oh its not obligatory”, it saves them from giving explainations to why they don’t wear it if it is obligatory. They simply say that to justify their actions (unfortunately)
I am so Proud of u EM, See when u decide to hold on to the teachings of Allah, Allah gives u the strength to get through each and every obstacle in ur life. Rock on Sister.
I live in New York and have been wearking Hijaab for past 6 years and by the Grace of almighty Allah I never had any problem regarding public behavior toward Hijab or any racial comment (thanks to Allah).
NO men came up to you and molested you and threw you in the gutterS? omg, no wayyyyy, how can that be!!! I thought it didn’t matter if you wore it or not
Ive been told you get more harrassed if you wear it
(aside from the joke..Good work, im proud of you MashAllah, May Allah swt have mercy on all of us, and guide us all on the sirratul mustaqeem. )
Atleast your looking at the path.
Unlike those who are just avoiding it ignoring it, trying to please the western ideologies and trying oh so hard to fit in to their culture.
Atleast you’ve looked away from that, and are now staring at Allah’s path. Dark as it seems.
Its up to you to start walking on it. Or stand there and stare at it ? Allah guide us All.
C i don’t get that… i’ve herd of girls getting harrassed but I never was… nobody ever bugged me, even in catholic school, everyone knew i was muslim they didnt make fun of me… (they made fun of me but not for my religion ) and nobodys ever bugged my mom, EVER I guess i wont believe it until i c it personally :halo:
