Dancing & Weddings

haha if my dad leaves the room

Re: Dancing & Weddings

My inlaws wont be there on my bridal shower or my mayun...they're all flying in the weekend of the wedding and mehndi. So, I get to go all out!

Re: Dancing & Weddings

same here...i will be dancing on my mayun as well as the bridal shower...but dont knw if will be able to do so on the mehndi.

Re: Dancing & Weddings

Mehndis are SO DULL without dancing. No offence but who wants to go to a mehndi were all you do is sit and watch the dulha/dulhan and eat? The last couple of mehndis ive been to have had amazing choreographed dances, theyre so much fun to watch.

At my cousins wedding last year, my chachi got us all up and dancing at the valima too, first the guys did their thing and then the Dj asked the men to leave so all the ladies could get up and dance, was such a perfect end to the evening.

Re: Dancing & Weddings

Ladies only and yes, lots and lots on naaching! Its the punjabi way innit, sing a few songs, change a few lightbulbs!

I personally am a huge fan of proper choreographed dances. We usually always have a daandiya dance and then a medley of bollywood, bhangra and then free style. I very rarely take part. Im good at the wolf whistling though! ;-)

Re: Dancing & Weddings

No Maza of weddings Without weddings songs nd dance

Re: Dancing & Weddings

LOL
oops I guess I should have been more precise with the thread
guys at my weddings ALWAYS dance, I was talking about girls dancing

and I agree with you guys, if its all girls then its fine
but sometimes what happens at our weddings is that its all girls but the cousins will be there too, but there used to be a lot dancing before, now its just meh' , doesnt happen much, especially if its WITHIN the same family

[start=reminiscing] Hmm i didn't dance at my mehndi but his sister and bhabhis and brothers did, only my phupho from my side danced as well. Tere was no dancing at the wedding, but we had an "open" floor on the valima. It was mostly guys though, his friends dragged the groom off the stage and onto their shoulders, my nand grabbed me off and the three of us danced, funniest part was seeing my dad and chachu dance too. even my nephew danced (well my brother shook him). One of hte highlights of the wedding :@: [end=reminiscing]

Re: Dancing & Weddings

^^ so sweet.

Re: Dancing & Weddings

We don't dance at our weddings/mehndis. And they are a lot of fun!

Depends what your idea of fun is ;-)

Re: Dancing & Weddings

Wow @ some of the replies here.

For those of you who have said they wouldn’t want to go to a “boring” mehndi, wedding, etc. and just look at the faces of bride and groom, here is a reality check for you: Two people have decided to tie their knot and chose you as someone they’d like to share it with. It is an honour for you to be invited on the first place so that you can share their special moment with them. If you don’t want to loook at their faces and instead shake your ass, then by all means you can go to jams. Better for everyone.

Now to answer the original question: so long as it’s females, you can do whatever you like - and most girls do take advantage of the moment and get up and dance.

Around males, we are on our best behaviour.

hey.. psquared.. i was wondering what kind of slideshow are you guys planning? because as much as i'ld to have dancing on our mehndis, it just doesnt happen because it cant e just an all girls' function. so yeah any other ideas to make a mehndi interesting?

Perfect dance song

Hi everyone! I need help and soon!! I know I can turn to my fellow GS's for help. My cousin who is also my best friend is getting married in a few months and I want the perfect song to dance to at her mehndi. I had chosen the song "dhoom tana" but when grandma heard it she said it had "unappropriate" meanings. The thing is, my family is very strict. I can't dance to a song with "behuda" meanings but I can't seem to find a song that doesn't have such a lyric. I need a song thats fast and modern but not too fast. It has to be special. I was thinking of the song "sajan ke ghar jaana he" but its too old for my taste..any new song suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks girls!!!

THANKYOU for the extensive list but many of these songs are done..I mean have been played out, done too many times. Also, most these songs are old. Alot of them have "unapropriate" meanings..like kya soorat has the word "sexy" or whatever and its not even a song you should play at a wedding/mehndi not just b/c of lyrics but it just doesn't go. But thanks for your help anyways. P.S.-I prefer songs to which a female has sang. Oh and the song Maya Yashoda that u have listed is all about some Hindu thing. That is a big no no..No songs about Hindu Gods or anything like that.. Also I don't want any songs that have American words thrown in them to seem cool..
