dancing boys of afghanistan

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

@Shaq

Lagtha hai aap Zara sarcastic hain. Koi gal nahin.

By the way, I didn't want to embarrass Huma by providing more examples of her decency. Since you bolded it, let me state what I was thinking about.

There was a blog where she stated she cooked for her mother while caring for her health. I was referring to that. I thought that was really cool.

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

Fair point. But Stats should reveal the facts. In abt a week I will try to dig into this. And post results.

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

What stats?

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

And yes, jokes aside, PD is rare. Not many come close.

Apologies to PD in advance.

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

In my response to someon, was it Ninja-san, I had brought ho the following Stof. I will modify it to keep it simpld

% of male population above 18 years that engages in such activity. This is the metric. Compare this across several regions, countries.

% of boys under 15 who are victims in such activity. Again compare.

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

Sure there will be men who do it due these reasons. Things are never either this or either that.
The point however is, that who has measured whether the majority does it because of these reasons?

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

And you think the percentages and result will be reliable?

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

there is noting that will satisfy you...i solved your problem long time ago..u live in your bubble and i will live in my bubble

but i do want to ask you...how much time have you spent in villages? i repeat it...in villages or in madrassas or in any of these societies that we are referring to.....i am not being sarcastic ...genuinely interested...and i do hope you are honest in your response....coz reflection on such societal issues is usually baseless or not grounded unless you have some direct experience of living in those societies for number of years....or you have to trust statistical data, but you dont trust data either..lol

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

So sir ji, tell me, how are you going to collect data?
What is it exactly that you are going to measure and how?

I am just really curious how you are going to collect your data. And how reliable and objective this all will be. Because you already have made up your mind, so there goes the objectiveness.

A lot of researchers manipulate their data just to get p< .05. A research and conclusions about a certian issue are not the final verdict about that issue.

No, you did not solve my problem. You are making assumptions, just as I am.

I have lived a few years in the pind.

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

Le Pak, I am convinced you are a truth seeker, and not follow the herd type of person. This is the best and ONLY way to get close to the facts. At last I cant think of any other logical way.

Granted data only as reliable as source. But IMO, this is far better than assuming. Which is all we got right now.

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

Here is procedure I plan to follow. Modified it further to keep it simple

1) Take # of men involved in such activity for last 15 years ( or any duration > or equal to one year
2) divide by current population - yes iseally denominator should be average population over time period considered
3) calculate %
4) compare for various countries.
Pakistan as a whole comapred to region discussed, India, US UK Turkey EGYPT Canada any other?

Do same for # of boys abused.

State source for each. People can decide.

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

I know that it is the only way to get facts. I am not discouraging that.

I am just saying that regarding this matter, retrieving data will be difficult, because not many people will be willing to work along or give honest replies.

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

Oho, I was just copying Southies post word for word as tongue in cheek:smack: Its not my view!

Re: dancing boys of afghanistan

Yes. I agree. Not an easy task. But I liked the questions you posed.
