:( some elaboration might help here emm
Re: Da Vinci Code Movie (Release Date) Friday May 19 2006
I just watched it.
Got the 11:30pm show, completely sold out.
I havent read the book so I didnt know what that much.
I found the movie to be very well done and acted.
But I am just amazed at all the hype of the book.
It is nothing special. Bascially its a puzzle which uses real life events and locations. People bascially want to be a real life Indiana Jones and follow clues.
So thats why the book was so popular.
Its unfair to the movie that it has to meet this expectation.
But I really enjoyed the book.
In the end, God is a grandfather
Re: Da Vinci Code Movie (Release Date) Friday May 19 2006

Has received bad reviews from critics on RottenTomatoes
Rating: 4.7/10
**
A jumble of historical myth, religious symbology and international thriller-action makes for an unwieldy, bloated melodrama.
**“The script explains everything twice, spelling out the big words three times, so that even if you’ve never heard of Jesus or Mary Magdalene you can still figure out this story.” – Jeffrey M. Anderson, COMBUSTIBLE CELLULOID
“For people who insist that the movie is never as good as the book, your case just got stronger.” – Matt Pais, METROMIX.COM
“Ron Howard and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman struggle mightily to cram as much as possible of Dan Brown’s labyrinthine thriller into a 2-hour-28-minute running time, resulting in a movie both overstuffed and underwhelming.” – David Ansen, NEWSWEEK
“The movie is so nervous about offending anyone that it’s hardly any fun.” – Jami Bernard, NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
Ron Howard’s adaptation of Dan Brown’s bestseller is punishingly long, dramatically overwrought and fatally short on the thrills we demand from summertime blockbusters."– Colin Covert, MINNEAPOLIS STAR TRIBUNE
“Way too long and duller than watching Da Vinci’s paint dry…takes away the book’s little credibility and makes the flaws more obvious.” – Edward Douglas, COMINGSOON.NET
and a whole lot more at http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/da_vinci_code/
Ill prolly see it in a few days, regardless.

Re: Da Vinci Code Movie (Release Date) Friday May 19 2006
Bad or good, the movie can't be same as book. Those of us who have read the book has our own imaginations of the characters and venues of events and there is a pace of thrill in the book that keeps you reading until the end. Movie is bound to be a little different for every reader as director can't swim into millions of minds and come up with a common portrait for us.
Re: Da Vinci Code Movie (Release Date) Friday May 19 2006
like everyone said ..it wasn’t like a book. Book is pretty fast paced but movie…I found myself almost walking out of it :S May be b/c I was expecting too much out of the movie or may be b/c i wanted to see MI3 but i ended up buying ticket for DVC ![]()
It was sold out..thats true but once the movie got done…I didnt find enuff people appreciating the movie. Everyone was comparing with the book and most of them end up saying its not as active as book.
LOL some old budha budhi couple even got the banner outside the theatre saying should ban the movie ![]()
but hey thats just me, you all should watch it too. :k:
Re: Da Vinci Code Movie (Release Date) Friday May 19 2006
the show "South Park" makes fun of all religions including Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism and every other religion you can think of. And they make fun of everybody as well. They've shown Krishna, Jesus and even David I think and it's all in fun. Nobody really takes objection with this show because of the fact that nobody is spared.
But when it comes to doing or saying anything about Islam....the reaction isn't exactly the same from Muslims.
Re: Da Vinci Code Movie (Release Date) Friday May 19 2006
EMM, you should have seen Mi3 instead like you planned to :P
Re: Da Vinci Code Movie (Release Date) Friday May 19 2006
Just got back! I Liked the movie but ofourse, it dint come close to the book.
I liked Tom Hanks, but I am not sure if Robert Langdon came off as smart as he does in the book.
The girl did a good job. And the Monk was fantastic!
The suspense as it is in the beginning of the book was kinda killed in the movie. when I was reading the book, I couldnt sleep that night, i couldnt stop reading. But they failed to capture that in the movie.
It was a good movie though. If you havent read the book, you'll prolly like it much better.
Re: Da Vinci Code Movie (Release Date) Friday May 19 2006
I ended up watching it last night. Given that I haven't read the book and don't have time to read it in the future, I enjoyed the movie.
I'm sure it won't do justice to the book at all, but I suppose those who haven't read the book would enjoy it.
Fortunately enough I decided to purchase the tickets online for the first time and it went really well. I only had to swipe the card used to purchase at the self-serve ticket kiosk to print the tickets and I was done. Those who showed up last minute couldn't purchase, as the tickets were sold out. From now on I'll definitely be purchasing all of my tickets online. It's much simpler and faster.
Re: Da Vinci Code Movie (Release Date) Friday May 19 2006
So far very bad review of the movie from those ppl who have read the book and watched the movie, I have read the book and I was eagerly waiting for the release, now that everyone is saying the movie is
I dont know what to say.. but I will definitely watch the movie tomorrow, regardless its bad or good.
Re: Da Vinci Code Movie (Release Date) Friday May 19 2006
I remember when the Firm and Pelican Brief came out. People said they were not as good as the books. I hadn't read those books and enjoyed the movies. I think it is the case with most movies. The only successful one in recent times has been LOTR.
