For those of you who have read the book: Are you planning on watching the movie?
I will, even though I know it probably wont live up to the book.
Re: The Da Vinci Code trailer
Casting is a downer.
While reading the book, I thought Harrison Ford would make for a perfect Robert Langdon. And had they gotten Sophie Marceau for the role of Sophie Neveu, then it'd be a perfect treat.
I just can't get over the casting of Tom Hanks for this role, even though I really like the guy.
Re: The Da Vinci Code trailer
:k:
Re: The Da Vinci Code trailer
Worth watching I think.
Re: The Da Vinci Code trailer
I want to read the book first :(
Re: The Da Vinci Code trailer
ewww....tom hanks with long hair!
yea im going to see the movie to see the non-art related stuff...i actually ended up reading the version of the book which had all the art and building pictures in it. so now i have to see the other stuff.
Re: The Da Vinci Code trailer
Faisal, which one was the last role Tom hanks didnt nail? I think he will do a perfect job here as usual.
Ian Mackllen as Teabing is a bit if surprise for me. I thought this role was tailor-made for Anthony Hopkins.
I am glad they didnt go for Theron or Kidman for a Sophie role and chose a native french in Audrey Tautou (spelling)
Paul bettany is the most correct choice for the role of the monk. And by the looks of it, he is acting as gorey as he should be. Cant wait to see the movie. The cinematography with 'the louvre' looks superb and I think this movie will be a big hit.
Re: The Da Vinci Code trailer
COOOOLLLLLL
Re: The Da Vinci Code trailer
i wanna c..!!
Re: The Da Vinci Code trailer
Oh I soo agree with Faisal and Saby......
Harrison Ford and Anthony Hopkins would have been perfect!
Can't wait to watch it even though I'm not a Tom Hanks fan....
Re: The Da Vinci Code trailer
^I somehow can't see Harrison Ford playing Robert Langdon :-/ Ford looks old these days. Anthony Hopkins would've been perfect as Teabing though!!
Re: The Da Vinci Code trailer
^ Totally agree with Ford-bit Pinoo. To those who think that someone else (other than Hanks) could have been better for the role of Langdon, tell me which was the last role Tom Hanks couldnt nail? The man is a genius and he will pull it off with aplomb in all probability. Yes, if press is to be believed there were other options though such as Russell Crowe / Mel Gibson etc.
But I for sure will miss Hopkins as Teabing. When I was reading the book, the only person that came to my mind who could fit Teabing perfectly was Hopkins.
Reading this book, it was pretty obviuos that writer wrote it the way that would make movie-adaptation easier. Awesome awesome book! cant wait.
Re: The Da Vinci Code trailer
The trailer looks good...I can't wait to see it. :)
Re: The Da Vinci Code trailer
Can’t wait!
Tom Hanks sounds perfect for the role.
I love that they got Bettany for the Monk :k:
Da Vinci Code (release date: Friday May 19 2006)
After three years of record breaking sale and never ending line up of controvercies surronding the novel, the much hyped and awaited movie of the year with the most successful leading actor playing the most controversial and mysterious character is about to release in a week from today.
You will be amazed to know that Hanks is the only actor with Most Consecutive $100 Million-Grossing Movies, with seven consecutive big box-office films. Guinness Book of World Records just announced yesterday, adding another pinch of hype to the huge production.
It is said to capable of breaking the best opening weekend in the history. $100M will already be under its belt by Sunday night for sure, but can this movie break the all time record of opening weekend, let see.
What are you say about the pre-release anticipation/expectation of the movie? We can discuss this until the movie is released and we share our personal views on movie itself later on in this very thread.
Re: Da Vinci Code (release date: Friday May 19 2006)
I have been watching Da-vinci code documentary on History channel this whole week. I haven't read the book but these documentaries have been very interesting.
Re: Da Vinci Code (release date: Friday May 19 2006)
Dun like Tom Hanks ![]()
Re: Da Vinci Code (release date: Friday May 19 2006)
I am reading this book hope to finish it by next Friday :-)
I am sure the movie would not be that much exciting as it's potrayed in book. But still I wanna watch that :D
Re: Da Vinci Code Movie (Release Date) Friday May 19 2006)
I imagine the movie to be very close to the book, because I think the book had a very "screenplay" sort of feel to it, and I can actualy visualize the action sequences. It's probably a very smooth transition for the story.
