No one is saying that, the thread talks about curvy women coming back to the ramp/high fashion, not fat women. No one said that to be curvy you need thunder thighs, yes many of us all like Monroe's figure but that's an ideal situation.
I also don't think that Hareem's promoting obesity or getting fat to achieve those curves, I think after seeing girls that hardly eat (as were shown on the recent documentary 'model agency' and having met models with eating dosorders) we would like a healthier body image being promoted regardless of whether that person has been blessed with an hourglass figure or not.
Either Hareem's message has been misinterpreted by you or you just really want to rant, either way that's my tuppence, take it or leave it :)
Indeed.
I've been stayed either underweight or overweight mostly, in my teens I suffered several eating disorders and right now I'm battling to get a normal and healthy figure, so I've been on the both sides of the fence.

No I think my initial message to a rant got misinterpreted.
She asked why Angelina Jolie or VB aren't putting up weight because some magazines said so. My response to that would be maybe their completely confident about their looks, and feel very happy that the way they are and aren't surrounded by people who make them feel inadequate? Is it a crime for non curvy folks to feel good about themselves and be at peace? The whole talk about fashion industry came much later and thats a bit different and pretty deep issue.
Shall I make a thread about why Kim K or Mariah Carey aren't losing weight since skinny is so in?
I certainly did say that it isn’t relevant…to me.
But to the hoards of girls out there that constantly face criticism for their particular body type, whatever it may be, like your sister, it is important. Images from runways grace the pages of HF magazines…those that you so vehemently defend…and influence public opinion about what is good and what isn’t in terms of looks. In this respect I find the designers to be irresponsible in their choice of models.
Get it?
Perhaps they should consider using older models that have acquired their “womanly” figure…for now that you have mentioned the under-developed age of these models the whole business is beginning to seem a little bit seedy.
That was a genuine question that came to my mind, and I also said that VB said she won’t use zero size models for her designs to promote healthy bodies.
on another note Jolie.....
if your sister has a similar body shape to the one in the pic then the 'aunties' are likely worried that she doesn't have the curvaceous figure that, in their minds, is attractive to most desi men.
and on that note.......
I recall reading about a study that revealed men are more attracted instinctively to curves as this represents a healthy reproductive environment.........

someone did a study to find that out? kisi bhee mard se pooch lete, wo bata deta muft main.
No you just offended yourself and your religion. I am Muslim and I don’t idolize or give Godly status to humans. Keep your pathetic offenses to yourself.

Yes! You got it.
This is exactly why designers hire young nymph like teenaged girls so the people look at the clothes not get excited by bouncy bodies running up and down the runway. Who would look at the detailing around the neckline if there's a nice womanly cleavage popping out? The try to sell clothes not sex.
Whether you agree or disagree, these designers have their reasons behind going for certain types of girls. High fashion just like you said is not supposed appeal mass public and live upto their wishes and expectations.

But why does it have to be either one extreme or another?
Halle Berry is a prime example......I would love to see her in VB's collection. Or Jennifer Aniston......she would look great on the runway!!!
How can an article of clothing look good on a stick insect?

.
I'd say that those aunties should keep their shut and worry about pleasing their own men. There can so much to a woman and a relationship, then just physicality.
can someone tell me a gist on what is going on? I have no idea who is supporting curves and who is not ..
I made a mistake for promoting healthy bodies, and I don't think VB and Angelina have healthy bodies when surely they can achieve that, our Jolie got offended that I called them extremely skinny and started lecturing me how VB and Angelina give a crap about the cheap magazines (this is where all the confusion started). She thinks I'm too naive to make up my own mind about starved bodies and I need some cheap magazines to tell me that who's unhealthily skinny and who's not.
I really think everybody (in general) needs to stop stressing about what men find attractive and learn to accept themselves first. If you want to lose weight or become fit and athletic, do it for yourself, not for somebody else.
But why does it have to be either one extreme or another?
