Re: Curves are back!
you’re just being ignorant…and you’re in bliss too aren’t you? ![]()
sorry…I’m being catty and that’s reserved for another thread in Life1.
now…seriously…is this the “high fashion” that accomplished people like VB propogate? I hope not!
I am not an expert on the matter…and I don’t believe that I have purchased more than two copies of Vogue, Cosmo, et al, but I can tell you that I certainly do not find any of these models healthy or attractive. Nor will I ever approve of any designers that think this is the best way to showcase their wares…
Re: Curves are back!
Aye I have a model friend who see's runway girls all the time, apparently they look hideous. Most of them (not all) have bones protruding through their skin and no boobs to speak of, I feel bad that their career requires them to slowly kill themselves.
I remember watching the reality tv show as well, model agency I think, the girls looked very unhealthy, many of them were doing so many castings/shows a day on one doughnut, I'm like :O Are you kidding me?
Someone mentioned M.Monroe and yes she is bloody beautiful.
I hope curves come back, I'm not a fan of the androgynous looking stick girls as dramatic as their cheekbones look, it's just not pretty, but hey, to each their own :)
Re: Curves are back!
Here’s what the revered VB was saying not too many months back:
"Victoria Beckham makes a statement with her new collection:” I want to celebrate a woman’s curves. I love a woman’s body and I want to make women feel and look fantastic”, said the ex-Spice Girl on US TV show The View. She seems to be much more interested in fashion than in going back to stage performances. Victoria Beckham turned to a designer career after a successful musical journey with Spice Girls. She now tries to improve her style with every collection she shows off.
The international superstar presented her collection for spring/summer 2011 this week and the show was opened by a line of handbags. Beckham’s collection is defined by elegance and style. No fuzz, no spectacle, just an enjoyable occasion to watch the newest creations which Victoria Beckham refers to saying: ” I wanted to focus on shapes and curves and I looked at the art of Brancusi”.
Now whether Vicky’s intention to show off curves translated to simply using less fabric is yet to be determined…
and I don’t know about you but these models look to me like they have the same body shape as those malnourished ones in my earlier post

Re: Curves are back!
ROFL:
So big boobs, big butts and thick thighs are the only definition of being 'healthy'? Wow thats a great message to all those girls out there who naturally aren't born with rounded figure. Then they bloody moan why breast/bum implants cases are touching the sky these days? Whats the difference between designers who promote skinny girls and mags and women who militantly push for just one type of 'healthy/ideal' look?
Jen Aniston may not be size 14 but there is no doubt whatsoever that her lifestyle and diet is so much more healthier than that of late Monore! But since she ain't got the bouncy boobs and jiggly ass, she's malnourished.
Re: Curves are back!
like i said and many others..nothign wrong with being thin or "curvy"...being too thin or obese is not healthy.

While you roll around down there can you tell me how Halle Berry falls into your description above?
Re: Curves are back!
An average between Pamela Anderson and Olsen Twins would bring a good balance.
Re: Curves are back!
Yes ignorance is bliss. I can probably Google hundred more pictures of anorexic girls walking down the ramp. Some big controversies came to surface in mid 2000s but there is no denying the trend of hiring malnourished models has significantly, significantly lowered over the last couple of years, not saying you won't find an odd case here and there.
Re: Curves are back!
Jolie.....you are entitled to your opinion......and I won't argue with you on a matter that is totally not my forte....but I will suggest this: it ill behooves an intelligent person to deny the presence of an elephant in the room.......particularly when they are being trampled by it.......excuse the pun ladies.
Models chosen today for catwalk shows still do not reflect the body proportions that are considered healthy.
Re: Curves are back!
It doesn't matter if you are skinny or chubby (or an inbetween healthy) .... how you feel inside will show externally. Ladies, you are all beautiful. Believe it. Breath it. Repeat it and then Flaunt it!

Thank you so much. A confident woman who is at peace with herself will always stand out whether she's skinny or curvy, tall or short. Every woman should have some self respect.
VB maybe a skinny little cow for some but I think she really enjoys herself and know who she is; qualities some of the seemingly healthier women so wish to have. So at the end of the day, who are we outsiders to argue whats best for her or isn't? The woman has just welcomed a baby girl into this world. Surely malnourished women can't reproduce or do they?

yeah same goes for Kate Middleton.
Re: Curves are back!
I was hoping that this thread would turn into ladies describing as in which category they think they fit in .. but hopeless .
I am going to PA ..
Re: Curves are back!
Weren’t you the one who said ‘high fashion’ is not relevant, and nobody cares about it?
FYI, the HF girls are by and large are teenaged girls or in their very early 20’s. You obviously can’t expect them to have a figure of full grown up women i.e Halle Berry. Trust me, I have a perfectly healthy sister, who is 18 verging on 19, with 5’9 frame and looks quite similar to this 19 year old HF model below. My sister is super sporty and eats lot healthier than any of us, but some jahil aunties don’t consider her healthy because she doesn’t have big boobs, butt or M.Monore type roundness to her body And our doctor literally laughs at all those comments.

Well most of us look like Victoria Beckham, is that enough to put you off? ![]()

No one is saying that, the thread talks about curvy women coming back to the ramp/high fashion, not fat women. No one said that to be curvy you need thunder thighs, yes many of us all like Monroe's figure but that's an ideal situation.
I also don't think that Hareem's promoting obesity or getting fat to achieve those curves, I think after seeing girls that hardly eat (as were shown on the recent documentary 'model agency' and having met models with eating dosorders) we would like a healthier body image being promoted regardless of whether that person has been blessed with an hourglass figure or not.
Either Hareem's message has been misinterpreted by you or you just really want to rant, either way that's my tuppence, take it or leave it :)
