Re: wedding favors need asap!!

^ The Indian couple cake toppers are so cute

This is a cute idea, and practical too -heart shaped fridge magnets photo frames!

They can double as place card holders. Or you can put a picture or short message inside

Re: Wedding Favors

I am making my own wedding favours, i ordered little oraganza bags(5x4) from ebay and filling them with sweets, nuts and chocolates. The organza bags are very cheap as the seller is based in China.

Wedding Favors/Favours

Dear Guppies

You guys are a really sweet bunch with all your useful guidance etc. I really need some help. I'm planning my wedding and we're getting stuck on favours/gifts for our esteemed guests :) We would like to do something a bit different, but with a of class n' quality to it (lol)

We had thought about the following:

  1. gold sugared almonds in organza pouches
  2. mithai in individual favour boxes (ambala)
  3. godiva or lindt chocolates in favour boxes
  4. individual gifts (but this got too expensive & confusing)

Anyone got any nice ideas?

Hope you can help

xx

(PS: I spelt UK & US version of Favours for you American/Canadian Desi's :)

Re: Wedding Favors/Favours

**Oh they all sound so great!

As a guest I'd love #3. But if those might be expensive, #1 and 2 are good options as wlel. I'd entirely scrap # 4, except ofr a few close friends.

Hi Malta, thanks for your feedback, thats good to know and yeah maybe i could customise for close friends only! :)) Thank you!!

Someone mentioned candles to me, is that un-desi or would it work as a personalised favour?

Re: Wedding Favors/Favours

I like your ideas!
At our valima we had candles as wedding favours. They were wrapped in wrapping paper and had a tag that had our name and date of valima on it. :hula:

Re: Wedding Favors/Favours

esteemedone i am doing favor boxes as well! I am going to get our monogram printed on a label and write “sweets from the sweethearts.” We’re asking our card company (based in India) to send boxes that coordinate with our cards.

Another good idea is a candy buffet, I LOVE this idea, but I can’t pull of the logistics of it. And I had to make the choice of having a photobooth or a candy buffet, and I choose the photobooth! But here’s a link if you’re interested http://www.favorideas.com/wedding-blog/candy-buffet-ideas/

Finally, if you want to do another really CUTE yet inexpensive gift check out these photo coasters Glass Photo Coasters - Set of Two Wedding Favors - Favor Favor

On one coaster you could put picture of the two of you, and on the other write “Thank You.” Your guests can keep the coasters as is, or replace them with their own pictures.

Let me know if you want other ideas!

Re: Wedding Favors/Favours

Ohh, if you go with Jordan Almonds, you can cut costs by putting them in small tulle circles. Put five almonds in each circle and tie with a coordinating ribbon. Print out tags with your monogram or logo and on the back write this poem:

Jordan Almonds for Thee
Five sugared almonds for each guest to eat
To remind us that life is both bitter and sweet.
Five wishes for the new husband and wife -
Health, wealth, happiness, children, and a long life!

Fun, symbolic and inexpensive. We are using these for our mehndi since we are having a large, joint ceremony.

I really like this website: Wedding Favors, Bridal Shower Favors, Party Favors by Beau-coup

Re: Wedding Favors/Favours

i love that you’re considering edible favours- its such a waste sometimes to take home another frame, or candle, or trinket… i’ve never kept a single favour like that, except last year at a good friend’s wedding when she gave out these lovely ceramic platters. a bit odd, yes, but so useful and pretty! it was an italian wedding though and i know their budgets are sky-high for these things.

Weddingstar - Wedding Accessories - Cake Toppers - Unique Wedding Favors is another good resource.

we gave out fortune cookies as our favours, and the tag read, “Thank you for sharing in our good fortune!”

Re: Wedding Favors/Favours

Hi, somehowcollide which company in India are you ordering your invites and favour boxes from?

Thanks!

sweets in a bag is nice but there are other options i've seen that were neat too.

one wedding they didn't give out favors and instead left a card explaining the couple decided to spend that money donating to their favorite charity. They told us what the charity was about, why it was their favorite, how long they have supported it, and how others can get involved.

It was really nice, also a lot of times people forget to take the favors with them. one wedding we did candle holders (small ones for a single tea light) bought a whole bunch of vanilla scented tea lights and hot glue gunned ribbons that said the bride and groom's name with their wedding date. Well at the end of the night tons of ppl forgot to take them with them or others joked it was a shot glass :) lol. Anyhow that was fairly cheap, we got it all from a cheap craft store like garden ridge, michael's, hobby lobby.

another one my friend got necklace sets for us girls at her mendhi, that must've been pricey but they were fairly simple and dainty but those were only provided at the all femal mendhi and was useful.

Other people did the sweets thing and then the couple chose a goodpicture of themselves from the professional shots, made it into thank you postcards and mailed them out, so that was nice.

Another wedding they bought a bulk of desi keychains wholesale that were of a peacock because the groom's name was mayur and i guess in gujurati that's what a peacock is. It was cute, useful, and cheap because the family had a hook up.

i went to a wedding that had a photobooth provided funny hats, big glasses, feather boas and such so people can create funny pictures. It was nice you got two copies of the 4 shots you took and one copy goes into the wedding book (and you paste it and write a nice note) and the other copy is your favor to take home and compare with other guests.

That was really cool because my friend moved away from us and tells us she looks through that book a lot and it comforts her.

one girl got personalized m&ms and gave bags of that away which was pretty cute.

If you are going for something different --I think #1 and #2 is done very often, so its not really different, so of the first 3, Id vote for #3 -yummy :)

4 doesnt have to be too expensive, since you will be buying in bulk and there are lots of websites there you can order wedding favours in bulk. The only suggestion I have for this is if its something the guests are epxected to keep (as opposed to eat), then please dont have your name or face printed on it -unless it can be removed/replaced with something else. Like a frame that says something like Thanks for coming and then has your names & wedding date is fine if they can remove that message and insert something else. But I hate it when you get favours where you cant remove it --its like seriously, who is going to actually use or display that anywhere in their house, except for the immediate family of the couple. At one wedding I went to, they gave out these pretty crystal cubes in velvet boxes that had the couple's picture inside it. It was lovely and obviously cost alot but who will keep that except their own family? You dont want to waste your money on something like that because you know majority of people will just go home and chuck it. One cute thing I saw once were these little heart shaped frame magnets (like for the fridge). You insert a message inside and then the guests can choose to remove it and reuse it

Re: Wedding Favors/Favours

I LOVE the charity idea...very nice.

One wedding I went to recenly didnt have actual favors. What they did is as soon as the wedding cake was cut, the wait staff took it back, cut it up, put a slice into these little decorative boxes and each guest picked one of them up on their way out. I thought that was perfect.

There are sooooooooooo many things you can do!

How about Marzipan in small boxes? I'd prefer edible favours over any candle, vase :S

Shortbread? Mmm Turkish Delights?

Re: Wedding Favors/Favours

At my cousins wedding, for her mehndi she gave all the girls pink churiya (the mehndi theme was pink and orange) to wear whilst there and to take home with them. I thought it was such a good idea and it went down a treat.
On her Walima they gave out those mini boxes of celebration chocolates which were wrapped, and had a tag on with a little note from the bride and groom saying thank you and a dua at the bottom. It was a fab idea.

what a great idea!
