Re: Cost of Living
A little too comfortable.
What I hate about rich pakis is their obsession with showing off their fathers wealth and spending money like its "free"
I wanted to say something even more imp but I forget ill be back

It is just unimaginable to you that people can live “with grace” as FusionMiddleware said on 5k a month?

yes, for many people.
Re: Cost of Living
Nadeem tell me this. How much does 1 kg of tamatar cost in Pakistan? And how much does 1 kg of oil cost? Thank you

ok I can see by your questions you dont think it is possible.
1kg of oil would be around 200/250 pkr. They would not buy 1kg oil, they would buy 250g at a time or less. How do you think majority of people live - not everyone has a steady job. People work day to day, some working for 300/500 rupees a day or less. These workers have familes and children too. They live somewhere too. In your own city.
Re: Cost of Living
I have a friend who is supporting a family of six (him + wife + 3 kids + his mother) in 13K per month. How is he doing that, I dont know. I know one thing that it is extremely hard and he does hint to others (that he feels comfortable with), that he needs some financial help.
Re: Cost of Living
They are not sitting on a computer talking about prices of 250 grms of oil. Thank you.
Stop pretending that you are one of them because youve been in the same situation. This is what holier than thou is, talking about it like you can live it when obviously you are very much better off , more so than just 5 K a month.
Bowing out.

My last words too on this ... Contentment comes from having no expectation. Also, we have a dilemma do we say the people of Pakistan are in poverty and admit that we are not doing enough to support them, or do we say that the people of Pakistan are doing okay based on how they have worked out how to survive. Is it okay for us to live our luxurious lives whilst feeling others are poor? And do we conclude that finance is what makes a person comfortable?
Is it not true that a millionaire who wants more money and does not give in charity is poorer than a road sweeper who gives regular charity?
True wealth is not a measure of how much you have, but a measure of how much you don't mind giving away.
Re: Cost of Living
So far that is 125K
Survival for a few, wet dream for billions.

Re: Cost of Living
How much do you project is the minimal cost of living (comfortable) in Pakistan now
I mean to take into account
The minimal rent a four person family has Transport Food Clothing Schooling of 2 children under ten Medicines and other assorted expenses
You said minimal - so here is an estimated monthly budget for family of four ( Husband, wife and two kids ) , single income , living on rent , driving a motor bike .
Renting a Two bedroom apartment / House portion :In a proper housing society or developed area .. Not in central zone .. At least 8 k
Electricity - from 2 to 2.5 k - given that they dont have Air cons ..
Gas - from 0.8 to 1 k
Water charges - 0.5 k
City district charges ( waste management ) 0.5 k
Telephone - one land-line - 1 k
Two Mobile phones - 1 k
Groceries - 6 k
Milk - 2 k
Meat - 3 k
School tuition fee for two kids . 4 k
Transportation exp for kids 2 k
Kids pocket money / lunch money - 1 k
If you dont have time to teach them / help them with their home work - Add another 2 k for private tuition fee
Bike fuel - at least 2 k , if he is using it for going to and coming from work
Husband personal expenses - 1 k
Wife personal expenses - 1 k
Medical - 1 k
You said minimal , so I didnt add any shopping or eating out expenses ... Rest , you can do the Maths ...

I really can't imagine that and salute to him .. 10 k is what I spend on fuel here ... And you know I am hardly on ground and also use office vehicle for official transportation ..
