without being sure, lets not label buddha as God's messenger....

gandhi was a man of peace....
was he God's messenger as well????

Why can't buddha be god's messenger? He preached everything god would want in a human being and more. Perhaps more than anyother messenger on god's information super highway. I tend to think that as messengers go, he is the tops.

Teacher, prophet, messenger, it doesn't matter what you call him. Buddha delivered the great message that divine revelation was not limited to one people, nation or language.

i adore buddha

*The Buddha's most celebrated dictum is: "Hostility is never
conquered by hostility in this world; hostility is conquered by
love. That is the eternal law." Again, he says: "Surmount hatred
by not hating, surmount evil with good; surmount greed through
generosity, surmount lies with truth; speak what is true, do not
succumb to anger, give when you are asked." Compare this with
Jesus's advice in the New Testament: "... love your enemies, do
good and without expecting anything in return. Your reward will be
great, and you will be children of God." *

I like these ideals but I don't see them in practice very often.

if you look at kashmir and palestine you know it cant be solved by violence.muslim greet each other with word "salam"
there is commonality in religens.

Well that's what I just said. My point being, it's easy for me to say, violence is a nasty thing and I love rvikz, but if I then kick you up the butt as soon as you turn your back then that renders my words meaningless.

ofcourse religens are utopian and idealistic and you may consider impractical that does not mean you should not even try and totally
belive in suruvival of the fittest and jungle laws.

Is the Quran the practical answer to man's inability to achieve these lofty ideals set forth by Jesus and Buddha? Did God decide hundreds of years after this message was delivered that man was not able be so benevolent? With the Quranic references to wars, killings, self defense and punishments, it seems these prophetic teachings were pushed aside to address man's violent tendencies.

^ or may be man wrote it.

Budhha was no prophet. But according to Hindu holy books , he was an avtar of god; one among 10 incarnations of god. In fact he was the last known avtar ( 9th out of 10) and 10th is supposed to be coming in future. He preached peace and love and salavaged the Indian civilization from the evils of animal slaughter ( Bali/kurbani ) and many other evils prevalent at that time.

yeah but he did not say God told me to tell you that I am his messenger.

Channji, your logic sounds like anyone can just say that I am a prophet, because god told me. No wonder I prefer those that don't proclaim to be prophets and are judged by their actions and words.

As I said, Buddha is the tops baby.

Matsui, Islam, in one Riwaiyat claims the arrival of 124,000 prophets...Every nation on Earth has been given a prophet at one time or another, and they have all proclaimed the same thing...How do you explain the similarities between the Norse, Greek, and Roman mythologies...Even Hinduism...I really like Daoism...There are teachings in it that really are similar to Islam's...So how do we not know that the source for all these mythologies and teachings is the same...Doesn't Buddhism proclaim that man is born in suffering caused by desires? Well the Quran proclaims too that man is born in toil and strife...

Buddhism is outdated bro....Embrace the latest trend...Islam rules!

exactly man...islam is like everything else. Nothing new..it has been done before and after. It takes a little from here and a little from there. Nothing wrong wih that. You got yours I got mine.
