Bhutan is too dependent on india (but still they have preserved their identity and their way of living). Even for kashmir this could be taken as an example, provided it would depend on to what level the kashmiris will allow either india or pakistan to meddle in their affairs to preserve their identity. Kashmir, if it gains independence, will have to depend either on india or pakistan later for its survival, simply because of its geographical location.

Kashmiris are inherently closer to Pakistanis both culturally and geographically.
