I recently visited colombia where i learnt to speak spanish…espanol poco…and also got to teach english to schoolgirls…tough holiday…first time abroad alone and in a city where no exaggeration barely anyone spoke english…but all in all a really good holiday…here are some pics…
one weird thing in colombia that they never di here in the UK…i pulled that muscle between your shoulder and neck when you sleep…got to my spanish class…i was in pain so the school secretary gave me a massage…i was confused as it is but when i went to school to teach my class i was still in pain and one of the teachers got the vix and gave me a massgae too…wish they did that here…what a nice cultural trait…
Heres my favourite teacher and a couple more of my favourite kids…the teacher is Terra and she looked after me from day 1…
And the nightlife…firstly Medellin is on a hill and that made the views amazing…i mixed it up when i went out…the place is dirt cheap…i met one girl that lived in a favela at the top of a hill…i was absolutley knackered when i went there…them teaching me salsa was amusing for them aswell…went to an exclusive club where only the richest ie traffickers, political figures, footballers visit which was nice…in terms of people the broker the people the nicer they were and i know your thinkiing golddiggers but i spent no cash…infact i think i spent more taking sime english speaking girl to the major club…the broke girls were sweet…funny bit was her telling her brother why there was a guy from england in the house…thats one thing aswell…hospitable people…kept getting invited for meals to peoples houses…not used to that…anyhow here are the pics…first is the view…a lot better at night but my camera isnt good enough…2nd is mangos the biggest club down there…3rd is one of the dancers…funny thing is most of the population looks like that…and finally the favela girls…sweet family…but what a long walk…and finally is the crew that moved me from hola and como estas to being able to hold a conversation for an hour with my cabbie on the way to the airport…nothing like learning a language in a country where they dont know english…this lot, the surroundings and the kids ensured i learnt a lot…really nice holiday
