Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

When Ahmed Rushdi died in 1983, Waheed Murad said " Today I lost my voice"

or phir kuch hi maheene baad he passed away :(

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Rangoli the actress in song is Mumtaz. Zeba was paired against her husband Muhammad Ali.

Mumtaz reminds me an event our boss told us recently. His cousin and he went to see a shooting, where Mumtaz was the heroine. His cousin (xyz) asked Mumtaz ’ please pyare xyz k naam autograph den’. She was like ’ Excuse me, what?‘. The guy replied ‘kuch nahin autograph de dejiye’. She too the autograph book from him and returned back by writing ’ xyz apna akhlaaq buland rakhen’ :hehe:

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Waheed Murad was a great hero of the 60's and early 70's along with Mohammed Ali and Nadeem. All three were great heroes. tragically he died early on and Pakistan was robbed of a great actor. Personally I put him second to Mohammed Ali in acting skills and first as a romantic hero.

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Bhooli hui hun dastaan from Doraha movie was his favourite song.

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Yes Ahmed Rushdie sung some hit songs for Waheed Murad. Actually most of Ahmed Rushdie’s hit songs were picturised on Waheed Murad.

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

achha jawab dia Mumtaz ji ne

thanks for the correction!
najane kyun, lakin purani actresses ki aik dosre se sheklein kaafi milti julti thee … :halo:

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

@ the song:wub:

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Yes uncle Waheed Murad was considered as romantic hero because that era was of romantic movies. While Muahammad Ali Saheb also did romantic roles, but he was not popular as romantic hero due to his serious image. He was better remembered for his dialogues like ‘judge sahib mujhe insaaf chahiye’ and ’ Maa maine BA kar lia hai’ :hehe:

BTW uncle whats your favourite song picturised on Waheed Murad. Let me guess. This one?

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Mohabbat kerte hen Sab hi magar

Movie: Tum salamat reho

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

kitna khoobsurat era the Pakistan film industry ka:teary1:

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Kuch loog rooth ker bhi legte hen kitne pyaare by Ahmed Rushdi

Movie: Andleeb

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

:cb: Mumtaz resembled Rani to some extent. They played mother-daughter in one of the movie.

Rani was the heroine who always worked with Waheed Murad even in the days when Shabnam and Zeba stopped working with him. His last movie Zalzla was also with Rani.

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

It is not correct to say it was a romantic era only, Mohammed Ali as a serious actor gained lot of fame and in baazi upstaged Nadeem who was considered the top hero than. Mohammed Ali’s action films like Aag ka Darya were a great hit and than when he did romantic and comedy roles in Aag and jaisay jantey nahin they were a great hit, he was a versatile and all round actor while Waheed was just a romantic hero, a great one at that. My favourite song from Waheed Murad was from the film “ehsan”

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Nice song :k:

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

I loved Aag ka Darya.. The story and dialogues were just :lajawab: and the music and poetry just wow. Josh Maleeh Abadi’s ’ Hawa se moti baras rahe hain’ is an amazing song picturised on Shamim Ara.

I think I should do more threads on these legends.

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

I think he had worked with rani, than any other actress!
best part is, he looked good with every actress that he worked with from Zeba to Sangeeta!

in his last interview, before, anwar maqsood could start interviewing him, he goes" apko ik sawal poochne ki ijazat nahi hai, or woh yeh k apki pasendeeda actress kuonsi hen :D"

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

His son 'Aadil Murad' also worked in some movies but was flopped. He debuted with Sahiba in movie 'Raja Sahib'. Later, he moved to TV dramas. BTW, do you know the name of Waheed Murad's movie, in which President Zardari played his childhood role?

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

During the 60’s there used to be a popular movie mazagine called “Mussawir”. I once wrote an article in it comparing Ali with Daleep. Created a lot of controversy and while a lot of people supported my view, there were die hard Dilip fans who wouldnt agree with me. Was great fun. I think I lived through the greatest era of Pakistani film industry when we had actors like Waheed, Mohammed Ali, Nadeem and actresses like zeba, Deeba, Shamim ara etc. What an era that was.
