Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Waheed Murad was probably the first hero in Pakistan Film Industry who became youth icon. People followed his hair style, loved his acting. It is siad that no hero in Pakistani film industry could picturise songs in a style like him. He was versatile in real sense.

Lets pay tribute to this legendary actor by sharing some of your favorite songs picturised on him. Do share any information you got about his personal and professional life in this thread.

I start with this song which is ever green and still popular in Pakistani music lovers to date:

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Whenever, we think of Waheed Murad.. many of us remember the song ‘Koko Korina’ from one of the most successful movies of Pakistan. Yes I’m talking of ‘Armaan’ which set new records. Koko Korina not only established Ahmed Rushdie’s career, but its probably the first POP song of Pakistan. The movie was big hit and Waheed Murad and Zeba’s pairing was proved successful. Zeba and Waheed Murad didn’t work in many movies later due to the decision of Zeba to be paired only against her husband Muhammad Ali.

The song had been popular in almost all the generation of Pakistan. In 1990’s Sahira Kazmi re-recorded it in Alamgir’s voice and that again proved a milestone in Alamgir’s career.

Wahid Murad in romantic style

This song from movie ‘Naseeb Apna Apna’ is still played on Radio in rainy days. Waheed Murad- Shabnam pairing also created magic on silver screen before Robin Gosh asked Shabnam not to work with Waheed Murad :frowning:

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

he was truly a born artist, we will never see a legend like him again!

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

but didnt later, Zeba and all those actresses who had stopped working with him, were paired with him in early 80's?
in one of his interviews, when he was asked, why did they stopped working with and now why all of a sudden they are working with him, what was the reason behind this, he said, why dont you ask them? :)

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Yes indeed he was the great actor and producer. He got very good knowledge of music and introduced people like Ahmed Rushdie and Sohail Rana to Pakistani film industry.

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

he was kam-guh, but very intelligent and witty. people used to mistake his soberness for arrogance! is it true that a road in karachi is named after him?

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

I wanted to share a video, but i dont see insert video?? :(

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

The husbands of the heroines felt insecure due to his extra romanticism :hehe:

Yes he worked with those heroines later in 80s but as a secondary hero, where he did not have to picturise romantic songs with them. Like he played husband of Shabnam in Javed Fazil’s Aahat, but the actual hero of the movie was Nadeem.

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

i think he was Bollywoods equivalent of Rajendra Kumar, the Silver Jubilee Hero!..his most famous and popular roles were hat of a Muslim Man! Palki, Mere MeHboob are among his most successful movies! Mere MeHboob was shot on location at Aliagarh Muslim University…we used to go to that very spot wherehe bumps into the burq’a-posh heroine and then picks up her svattered books…accidentally touching her hand! hehe…ham to intizaar hii karte rahe k koii Haseena mahjabeena khambe se Takraaye aur uskii kitaabeN bikhar jaayeN  :cb:

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Yes a road in Saddar (near PTCL Exchange) was renamed as Waheed Murad Road after his death in 1983. The old name of the road was Marston Road.

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

KKF I think Rajendra Kumar was fit for certain types of roles as you mentioned, while Waheed Murad is considered as one of the versatile actors in Pakistan film industry. His fans keep him in category like Dilip Kuma and as far as picturisation of songs in concerned we don’t see anyone on his comparison.

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Haan issi moR per from the movie Doraha

Re: Chocolate Hero - A Tribute to Waheed Murad

Yes KKF just watch this song from the movie ‘Devar Bhabhi’. It was one of first movies of Sabiha Khanum after her marriage. When Waheed Murah called her Bhabhi in movie, everyone started calling her Sabeeha Bhabhi in film Industry
