Have any of you done Chemical Peels? Glycolic, TCA, Jessners…
I’ve been thinking about doing a 12.5 % TCA and did a patch test last week. It went OK, I will dillute it with water when I do my entire face. I’m doing it to get rid of acne scars- brown spots and pitted scars.
I am a little bit scared so if anyone has any recommendations on how to do a safe and light peel , do sahre!
I've tried a glycolic peel naqsa, it did leave me with very dry skin for uptill a week but that's about it. I'd still suggest that u have a professional do it for u rathar than doing it urself.
Facewashes that contain salicylic/glycolic acids are safe to use. Remember sunblock and not to use anything with alcohol or bleach 2-3 days prior to u're peel.
iv tried glycolic, lactic, and salicylic acid peel...the only con is that it leaves your skin flaky and dry for about a week like Gina said. Make sure you start with a low concentration and use it until your skin gets used to it and then move up to a highter strength only if their is a need to. remember, less is more with chemical peels. and ofcourse, sun block! good luck
Thanks Gina.Yeah, I'm using a face wash with salicylic and applying sunscreen SPF 33. I've done quite a bit of research on it and watched videos on how to do it. Just concerned about the down time...how do I go to work??? lol!

Saymma did you get it done or do it yourself?
Instead of going for a strong peel opt for several milder one's. Less flaking and obvious dryness. PLEASE still get it done at a reputable clinic :(
They have all the products at-hand God forbid if anything goes wrong..a reaction, chemical burn etc. Their neutralizers are professional and stronger as well. They also protect the sensitive parts of u're face such as corners of u're eyes, nose and lips.
Naqsa, i have done at home glycolic and tca peels, and have had great results! the websites i have ordered from are very helpful. 20% glycolic peel and the 12.5% tca peel has been wonderful to me!
Naqsa with 12.5% Tca u hav nothing to wory abt. its a mild peel. i dunno what r ur goals or expectations for the peel is but this % might not cause much/any flaking. 12.5% can be repeated every 1-2 weeks so the down time is 1-2 weeks only.
i skipped 12.5% n started straight with a 15% tca at home n it did almost nothing for me. my down time was 2-3 weeks. it started to flake in 2nd week only. Since i did 2 layers on my cheeks n 1 layer over rest of face n neck only my cheeks got some results.rest of the face (the forehead) got lil bit flaky the chin n neck turned out to be most stubborn ones n had no effect.
I have also tried 55% lactic acid peels twice so far. i dunno wat they did for me. Since i already use Apple cider vingar on regular basis i didn't feel 55% anything stronger than ACV. the lactic acid has no down time and can be repeated every week.
If u want to know more abt tca let me know i can give more and complete details.
^ a way of skin exfoliation that is different than products containing grain-like things ... it's a liquid that u let sit on the surface of your skin, and it removes dead cells (the upper layer of skin), allowing new cells to shine through :D
Sayyma i'm doing my second peel right now(2nd day today). last time 15% gav me no frosting. this time i did 1 layer again but the frosting was unbelievable. however i did apply more liberaly this time.may be after 1st peel the skin got more prepared for the 2nd one. hope its my last one as i don't wish to do it again soon. God it does hurts esp in my neck.
What results u achieved? n wat did u do it for?
Apple cider has lactic n malic acid. i use it just for keeping skin clear n better looking. but i use it with youghurt n stevia. this mask gives a soft, glowy n tight skin.something i got addicted to :) i think 55% lactic acid does giv results but since its a very mild peel u don't see them immediately but only after frequent uses.
Farrah its more for scar removal, wrinkles, sun damage, melasma n uneven skin tones. its not for active acne.
just watch this video
however never apply the acid near ur eyes as shown in the video. this is done by a doc in his office.
u can google tons of videos on utube on this topic.
