Check out this kurti I received.

Here is a picture of the back of the kurti. As you can see, she has put the sprinkles of crystals on the back and also on the arms. I didn’t know she was going to add these so I was very pleasantly surprised.

Re: Check out this kurti I received.

Um ok first of all when Pakistani merchants list "swaroski crystals" they mean crystals they've made themselves or whatever, real Swaroski crystals are made in germany and in small demand, the amount of crystals on that shirt would cost upwards of several thousands dollars, were they imported from Germany for this kurti. Secondly, sure people will charge what people are willing to pay. Personally, I'd get a nice tunic top from Nordstrosm for around $70 to $100 or a shift dress that can serve as a "kurti" $170 is just high. When I go to Pk I've paid around 10,000 for off the rack outfits various collections at the Point Mall etc. I think prices will only be driven down by competition, and like I've mentioned before, since all the products are made in sweatshops its up to the consumer to make the merchants work for the money.

i am not sure about whether they are from swaovskis or not but the cut stones have if of swarovski's , it depends which ones are used and surely they cost too much as well. the cut they have cant be done at home or in a garage.

they can range from rs 1 each (very smallsize) to rs 80-90 and over depending upon the type and size.
and the ones used on her kurti Seems to be good quality.
they arent made in pakistan and i m pretty sure they arent from china or india as well.

Re: Check out this kurti I received.

Swaroski is an austrian international brand and they are expensive but soooo nice.

just out of curiosity, are the crystals sewn on or glued on?

The crystals are Swarovski-type imitation. I know they are not real Swarovski. But as Junaid has written, there are all types of qualities of imitations. These are a good quality for sure compared to some other cheaper imitations I have seen.

Dawn - I am not home right now. I will check and see if they are glued or sewed. I think they would be sewed??

I will try to take some more close-up pictures of the crystals so you can see the glimmer. I am satisfied.

The designer has informed me that the crystals are [size=3]Australian Swarovski’s. Their copy of the real thing, I would say.

Re: Check out this kurti I received.

Well as long as you are happy with the work that's what's important in the end. I just heard from a freind who visited HSY in Lahore and bought some clothes from there. She said that she found stuff in the $150 to $200 range that was nice....its worth it to go get the stuff where its sold I guess!

Re: Check out this kurti I received.

Yes, I agree. That is why I had gone to Hajra Hayat directly to order from her since her prices were reasonable. However, you all know that story.......

Re: Check out this kurti I received.

Oh yea I guess if you buy it off the rack I mean in the store, that's what my friend did. HH sounds like a shiester though! Any shop at Nadia Mistry in Karachi? I've always shopped there, really reasonable stuff, not high fashion but she has some nice pieces, but always bought stuff off the rack never ordered online....

Re: Check out this kurti I received.

I have never seen it. I couldn't find a website. Does anyone know of one?

Re: Check out this kurti I received.

No she does not have a webstie for somereason but some of her clothes show up here and there, she showed at Karachi fashion week. Hmm I hvae one of her dresses here that I can post a picture of. Her stuff is good, mid price range when you buy from the store. I've found semi party wear for under $100 and heavy party wear for $150 to $200 and the $200 one was full kameez kaam. I'd post pics but for some reason can't do it on here. I do like her shop though but its hit or miss, if you go you can get an appointment and have dresses made with your own design as well.

I also like Niche on Zamzama for casual kurtis and embroidry work.

Re: Check out this kurti I received.

Yea yea 6,000rs is = $100 so 10,000 is not bad most designers charge over 20,000. This last tiem I went I liked a dress and it was 19K and I didn't buy it...there was nothing when I went last time in March but like I said been shopping with her for several years so I am sure she makes deals for long time customers. I do agree that sometimes her shop is bakwas. I emailed the moderators to see if I can post some dresses ofcourse they are a few years old so no latest fashion...

Re: Check out this kurti I received.

I mean 100 to 200 but I dont’ see stuff that heavy on line… ok here is one of my Nadya Mystry outfits that was around 10K PRS at the time exchange rate was 60rs/1 so I got it for a little over $100 had silver jamavar self print crop pants.

Nadiya Mistry dress

OOooh. That red outfit is dazzling!

Re: Check out this kurti I received.

Its only good for weddings and stuff but yea people liked it and the fit is flattering for the size I wore at the time. it was Rs 10,000 the most expensive piece I got at the time, and it cost $150 based on a $65/1 exchange rate. The kaam was nice and Saaf with sequiens and little diamontes on it...lots of bling. I only wore it once though and now its too big.

sewn on

^thanks, lara.

they are sewn, crystals come fixed in holders (probably done by middle man) and then sewn.

^ thanks, junaid.
