i actually really love the long length of kameezes these days.....i have already bought 3 outfits which are really long with straight trousers or churidars.
Re: Celebrity-inspired outfit
omg karisma iz lookin so pretty..as for the outfit i think the shirt iz a bit too long..i would neva wear something that long other than an empire waist or anarkali..as for colors forest green would be a good choice with red or dark magenta contrast..u can ask the designer to make it front open then it would look much better with chooridar..
Re: Celebrity-inspired outfit
Nah, that's a bit too much for my taste...kameez is sooooo long as well...
Re: Celebrity-inspired outfit
I think its gorgeous! I also think you should keep the color a dark one, like emerald green, eggplant purple or royal blue. The kaam wouldnt look as good on lighter ones, me thinks.
Re: Celebrity-inspired outfit
i know its rude to ask (but asking anyway!) but how much is he saying it will cost? i just want to see the difference in prices between paki and indian designers......tarun tahiliani's prices are out of this world, like $5000 upwards for basic formal dresses
Re: Celebrity-inspired outfit
You GOT to be kidding me ???
Is this thread for real ??

what's unreal about it?
Re: Celebrity-inspired outfit
Would you be the bride or is it someone else's wedding? I think this dress is good for the bride herslef, might be too much for a guest of the wedding..
Re: Celebrity-inspired outfit
There is way too much going on with the kaam, too much too close....dunno. Maybe cut down on the amount of kaam or something. Hmm but in response to your question. Like everyone else said a deep blue or navy blue would look good. How about dark gray/dull silver kaam on it?

Honestly, I don't even know. My MIL is ordering it for me. Alhamdullilah she is a very classy woman with sophisticated taste and she asked me if I liked anything to order from India and this was the first thing that sprang to my mind for some reason? I didn't ask her how much she will be paying but I can find out.
This dress is actually for my parents 25th anniversary which I am throwing for them. True it looks bridal but everyone in my family and in my inlaws side always dress up extravagantly for any event big or small.

hey u don't need to ask, but if she mentions it let me know! i personnaly think you should keep it backless - otherwise it's just too heavy
Re: Celebrity-inspired outfit
how much will the designer charge for this dress ??
Re: Celebrity-inspired outfit
^ I asked MIL and she said its costing her $1250 excluding shipping/handling.
i agree with some of the others here, its not a great/ unique dress, it looks like a typical indian dress, the embroidery, design and length of the shirt. ive bought so many indian dresses that almost come down to my ankles and some of my moms dresses look very similar to that. but since ur getting it, i agree with SGC the royal blue in itself with the gold embroidery would look great. you could also try a deep purple. both would look much better than the red/gold.
Desigirl is Indian origin so I guess the more Indian styles appeal to her.
Re: Celebrity-inspired outfit
I have seen blue velvet and it looks beautiful!! Keep it one color though with golden kaam. It will keep it sophosticated looking!! Its a beautiful dress though!! I think the balls at the bottom is her anklet!
