Re: Celebrating Valentine's day is haram and forbidden
Good point. We can do it but on this day, we can make an even bigger deal out of it.
Now I dont want to use the word celebration here cause then people will make it even more religious that we are already given 2 and only 2 days to celebrate (2 eids). We should not celebrate any other day. As much as that hadess is 100% true, it does not mean that for the rest of the 363 days, we are expected to mourn. We can be happy in those days also.
Re: Celebrating Valentine's day is haram and forbidden
I think that if my husband bought me flowers/a present out of the blue just for being 'me' rather than for an anniversary/Eid etc I'd be more touched and impressed than if he got me something on valentines day. Why? Because Valentines day is everywhere thus he may cave into consumerism rather than wanting to express his feelings.

Just my 2 pence worth.
On the flip side, if he does not do anything special on the valentines day, in fact come home late and directly go to bed, would you be highly disappointed?
Re: Celebrating Valentine's day is haram and forbidden
Oh Gosh valentines is jus something thats fun Between husband and wife. Please stop taking things to a extreme if you dont wanna 'celebrate' it then dont. If you do go ahead. I also heard celebrating birthdays is also haraam... (i dont even wanna go into it..)
Re: Celebrating Valentine's day is haram and forbidden
Only those people who have no , spouse , loved ones, family and friends are against valentine's day.
Valentine day is not a Christian religious celebration . As per Quran Christians are ahle kitab. Christianity , Judaism , Muslims are all continuation of one religion. So anything coming from Christianity and Judaism which is not sinful or against Islamic beliefs and Islamic obligations can be celebrated. Since Valentine day does not have any religious connotation it can not be classified as bidat and those who celebrate it cannot be called bidati.
On valentines day nobody is committing any shirk , or worshiping any false idols or false prophet, then what is so disgusting about it ?
Love for spouse , loved ones , friends and family is a beautiful thing. It should be celebrated and shown.
Someone said, then why show it on just one day.
It is like asking why eid is celebrated on first of Shawal ? You can fast in any month of the year and then celebrate eid at the end.
Everything has its time and day. It looks and feels more beautiful on that particular day.
Saying azan on loudspeaker was declared bidat by many mullas in the begining. Now there would hardly be a majid in the world where loudspeaker is not used. Is it a bidat to say azan or khutba on loudspeaker ?
These mullah types and their hawaries should stop and think before declaring anything and everything forbidden in the light of Islam. Islam does not micro manage your life , these mullah types and their hawaries are bent to turn Muslims in bunch of depressed , lunatics who should only be standing on a Musalla and should not live their lives and should not enjoy and celebrate life. Islam does not teach seclusion. It demands that you fulfill your religious obligations while living your life as a normal human being .
So do you believe in all what you quoted. I guess so.
Then why are you interacting na mahram women in these forums ?
and here why are you asking someone if she is model. As per your beliefs . Modeling would be lowest profession. Modeling is allowed in your Islam and Valentine is forbidden. Kudo’s to you. http://www.paklinks.com/gs/career-academics/396096-your-average-workday.html#post7149428

Saint Valentine
For more details on this topic, see Saint Valentine.
Numerous early Christian martyrs were named Valentine.[7]](Valentine's Day - Wikipedia) The Valentines honored on February 14 are Valentine of Rome (Valentinus presb. m. Romae) and Valentine of Terni (Valentinus ep. Interamnensis m. Romae).[8]](Valentine's Day - Wikipedia) Valentine of Rome[9]](Valentine's Day - Wikipedia) was a priest in Rome who was martyred about AD 269 and was buried on the Via Flaminia. His relics are at the Church of Saint Praxed in Rome,[10]](Valentine's Day - Wikipedia) and at Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church in Dublin, Ireland.
Valentine of Terni[11]](Valentine's Day - Wikipedia) became bishop of Interamna (modern Terni) about AD 197 and is said to have been martyred during the persecution under Emperor Aurelian. He is also buried on the Via Flaminia, but in a different location than Valentine of Rome. His relics are at the Basilica of Saint Valentine in Terni (Basilica di San Valentino).[12]](Valentine's Day - Wikipedia)
The Catholic Encyclopedia also speaks of a third saint named Valentine who was mentioned in early martyrologies under date of February 14. He was martyred in Africa with a number of companions, but nothing more is known about him.[13]](Valentine's Day - Wikipedia)
No romantic elements are present in the original early medieval biographies of either of these martyrs. By the time a Saint Valentine became linked to romance in the fourteenth century, distinctions between Valentine of Rome and Valentine of Terni were utterly lost.[14]](Valentine's Day - Wikipedia)
In the 1969 revision of the Roman Catholic Calendar of Saints, the feastday of Saint Valentine on February 14 was removed from the General Roman Calendar and relegated to particular (local or even national) calendars for the following reason: “Though the memorial of Saint Valentine is ancient, it is left to particular calendars, since, apart from his name, nothing is known of Saint Valentine except that he was buried on the Via Flaminia on February 14.”[15]](Valentine's Day - Wikipedia) The feast day is still celebrated in Balzan (Malta) where relics of the saint are claimed to be found, and also throughout the world by Traditionalist Catholics who follow the older, pre-Vatican II calendar.
The Early Medieval acta of either Saint Valentine were excerpted by Bede and briefly expounded in Legenda Aurea.[16]](Valentine's Day - Wikipedia) According to that version, St Valentine was persecuted as a Christian and interrogated by Roman EmperorClaudius II in person. Claudius was impressed by Valentine and had a discussion with him, attempting to get him to convert to Roman paganism in order to save his life. Valentine refused and tried to convert Claudius to Christianity instead. Because of this, he was executed. Before his execution, he is reported to have performed a miracle by healing the blind daughter of his jailer. Legenda Aurea still providing no connections whatsoever with sentimental love, appropriate lore has been embroidered in modern times to portray Valentine as a priest who refused an unattested law attributed to Roman EmperorClaudius II, allegedly ordering that young men remain single. The Emperor supposedly did this to grow his army, believing that married men did not make for good soldiers. The priest Valentine, however, secretly performed marriage ceremonies for young men. When Claudius found out about this, he had Valentine arrested and thrown in jail. In an embellishment to The Golden Legend provided by American Greetings, Inc. to History.com and widely repeated, on the evening before Valentine was to be executed, he wrote the first “valentine” himself, addressed to a young girl variously identified as his beloved,[17]](Valentine's Day - Wikipedia) as the jailer’s daughter whom he had befriended and healed,[18]](Valentine's Day - Wikipedia) or both. It was a note that read

Re: Celebrating Valentine's day is haram and forbidden
yeh, happy roman pagan celebration...we should call it halaltine. If we use the logic of some Muslim then we should start celebrating Christmas as well, for example, because there is nothing in Islam against it.
man tashabaha bi qoomin fahuwa minhum من تشبه بقوم فهو منهم
even if valentine’s day was not haram or anything, i would still not celebrate it coz it’ sthe lamest and gayest holiday in human history.. an invention of a dumb mind..

No as we decided early on that we would not celebrate Valetines Day as we'd prefer to be more spontanious and be able to set an example to our kids (one day) that it's okay to buy your husband/wife a present here and there, hug or whatever without there being a day for it. Am I making sense?
Valentines Day to be is an overrated commercialised day that fools many into paying out a silly amount for a dozen red roses which don't even smell nice.
