it is for the people who are not living in Pakistan, and not in any Muslim country:
so how do you spend your Eid, especially Eid-Ul-Adha, and when it comes during the week?
We usually go for Eid prayer, hubs take a day off and we go to some resturant in lunch time and in the evening its usually a grill party or any kind of potluck loaded with meat items like nihari, paaye, karahi.:) and day finsihes so fast.

but would never be like back home.

We do niyaz in the morning, go for Eid namaz, come home, have lunch with family within close proximity - there are four sisters, two husbands, niece, my uncle and his kids - and then plan an activity. This year, we are planning bowling night. :)
Re: Celebrating Eid outside of Pakistan?
Work for me on Eid:bummer: i was meant to go out for my bday to go and see “wicked” but not everyone could get together so where all gonna go out on Eid to Watch it…:Excited:
Re: Celebrating Eid outside of Pakistan?
Everyone in my family makes sure to take the day off work/school. Usually our eid day starts with the morning frenzy and mayhem of getting ready on time. Then we manage to get ourselves to the eid prayer arena on time (lord only know how that happens). After the prayers we return home and start the breakfast/brunch. After that we just call all the family friends and relatives. Then either just do nothing, or go out, which ever we feel like. The day ends with a scrumptious dinner of course.
This time its going to be different. After the eid prayer and breakfast, I'll be dragging myself to library. Don't want to fail you know.
Re: Celebrating Eid outside of Pakistan?
At my parents house we all took the day off and after abbu and bhai came back from namaz we would have breakfast and then call our relatives around the world. Later on we would go and meet other relatives in teh area or they would come visit us.
Now that i am married, if we arent spending the eid with my family, my husband and i go for namaz and then come home for a bit. Last eid we were invited for a potluck brunch and that made eid a lot more fun. This eid we are also invited but we wont be able to make it since hubs is going out for qurbani.

Yaar choro je itna rupphar eh teh nahin manaday
Every event for me sadly starts-off by looking at the calender.. if the day falls on sat/mon/wed..is a normal day for us with my mother's dialysis.
Otherwise, since both of my parents are the eldest from both sides..they ALL gather at our house..which is NOT fun cuz my maid takes the day-off and I usually spoil my dress while cooking =( not to mention that the guests know u're menu beforehand just by a whiff of u're clothes!
And this year Eid for us is on a Monday, which means Eid at the hospital.

^Look at the positive aspect, she will spend part of her Eid with friends who share the same obstackles as she does.
Re: Celebrating Eid outside of Pakistan?
In big cities in north america (Houston, NYC, Chicago, Toronto, LA), eid is usually like this:
you take off from school/work. Attend prayers at the mosque and then hang out with friends or family at home. Rarely you halal your own animal.
Re: Celebrating Eid outside of Pakistan?
Namaz (duh), come home eat some.. and insh'Allah this year going for qurbani then come back home with the meat, help in putting them into bags (actually fun), then clean up eat again, visit friends, go out, and evening go to 1 house which hosts the annual party where all gather, then again later at night go out with friends...until fajr.......... FUN!!!! but this time finals are here, and eid is on monday, no chilling out late :(
