I think Danes are finding it first hand what is the cost of insulting other religions in the name of freedom of speech. Had they made cartoons mocking Osama, Al-Zarqawi, heck even every single muslim ruler in the world right now, as a means of criticizing terrorism, not a finger will be raised. But to insult the most revered person in a whole nation, you gotta be careful what you are doing.
Particularly interesting is the statement "European Union Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson has warned governments that if they are behind the boycotts that they could face action at the World Trade Organisation if the EU proves they are involved. If the boycotts are purely consumer-driven, however, little can be done". Well well well. See who is coming to defend the freedom of the consumers to buy what they want and not buy what they don't want. Some one is rattled. Good job!

Boycotting Danish products is the way to go. Silly violent protests do nothing, but cause further problems and trouble. However, boycotts hurt them financially and will affect their economy.

I think Muslims need to get a grip. We must think from a rational perspective. First of all, punishing an entire nation based on acts of few is going to repulse people further from Islam. After all, who are we to act as defenders of Prophet's honor OR does it even mean anything in reality. I really don't think so. Looking at the Prophet's own lifestyle as to how he turned in forgiveness and compassion towards individuals who casted all sorts of insults on hime and did their best to afflict harm to him; never did he asked Allah to punish them ONLY because his ownself was humiliated. Neither did any of the Prophets. Only due to the fact that their service for Allah alone, and only from Him they seeked reward.
On the same token - they were vehemently opposed to the ones that were deep in sins and oppression. Through their best of conducts, their worse enemies became their best of friends.
We as Muslims need to get our priorities straightened. If we set out to defend the Prophet's honor, then it's best to follow his footsteps in any capacity or manner feasible. The likes of Abu-Jahal and Abu-Lahab who tormented and mocked him were phased themselves from the face of the earth; hence nothing has been left to "doubt". I just think that all these "short-term" protests, bycotts are nothing but hollow overtures which infact will end in naught....

Actually it highlights the political situation in these countries where people are oppressed and are very frustrated, and when something like these cartoons are insulting their belief you know what will be the outcome.

…we should remeber the journal who preinted the cartoons is far wright newspaper and their goal is to get rid of immigrants:devil:…trying to turn down the danish economy is exactly the way to go to make them happy so if you want to make them happy, keep on boycotting!
