car seat in pak

Re: car seat in pak

Saadia.. yep thats the information I was given from Emirates too.

I am so afraid of it getting damaged without any visual signs but we may not have a choice.. we will have to rent a van for airport and then we cant leave the car seat there.. we will have to take it with us.. unless and until we rent the car seat too from the car rental agency! arghhhs o confused!

Re: car seat in pak

Asking the crew mannnny times also did not help in our case (PIA and Emirates airlines). They just did not give it to us during transit.we got it at the final destination.
I have not traveled with my child's car seat or travel system stroller. But I have seen car seat carriers for air travel.I am not sure if they are only bags or something more padded so as to protect it from any bumps or falls. But Gtg maybe you can check it out or google it.
My knowledge is that even if they take the stroller/car seat at the gate,it goes with the cargo. And there is no way to make sure they handle it with care down there. It might get treated like any ordinary luggage.

Re: car seat in pak

Not sure what kinda service you guys are using. We got a pick n drop service this time for the airport, and they gave us a car seat.

Re: car seat in pak

car seat n stroller can both be booked u can get them wrapped n then booked them i always take baby stroller wth me n i always get it wrapped n allhumdullah it never got damaged n yes i agree even if u ask them they dont give u in transit my SIL carried both stroller n front facing heavy car seat both wrapped n allhumdullah both were fine emirates have become more careful previously they used 2 drag them wth other luaggage but now they separtely book n separately give u at destinations wht i do i lawys make them put fragile tag on my stroller wth plastic wrapping :)

Re: car seat in pak

we will most probably be renting a van since pick n drop from our pind is about $300+

I am definitely worried about mishandling of teh car seat! I wont care about the strollers but with the car seat it's definitely a safety issue!

Re: car seat in pak

^ you could opt to get the kid a seat on the plane. some airlines, such as british airways, will charge 75% of the fare for a child to have his/her own seat vs. 10% for a baby flying on your lap. you’ll have to confirm this with the airline you fly with. in that case, they have to be seated in their car seat throghout the flight which you attach to the plane seat. thats one way around making sure the seat travels with you, or you click it on to the stroller frame which should also fold compactly enough that it could be an onboard piece of luggage.

i think i had posted about this before, but i have also seen people at the airport with the britax car seat carrier cart -which also adapts to other car seats. it is great for walking with children and luggage through the airport without having to have the stroller on hand. and it is a very compact, thin carrier so it can be stored on board with no hassles. we plan on getting one for our kid when we travel to europe in may iA.

this is it- http://www.britax.ca/accessories/car-seat-travel-cart

Re: car seat in pak

^And Britax was recently giving the carrier away free with the purchase of the carseat. It's worth checking if the deal is still on.

Re: car seat in pak

^ for real?? we just bought the boulevard 65 for the kid... i'm going to call and see if its still on! thanks!

Re: car seat in pak

I think I saw it in November/December. Hope it's still around!!

Re: car seat in pak

Everyone told me to bring a stroller to Pak but we did not use it once, except at the airport. But I was with a toddler. Perhaps with a younger baby it will be more useful. Also, my Bunny won't sleep in the stroller, so it's not as useful. If yours will, then definitely take it!

Re: car seat in pak

yes i have seen this SGC emirates provide this :)

Re: car seat in pak

sgc..Emirates only allows forward facing car seats on board and our baby is too young for that.

Re: car seat in pak

^ cutie!!

gtg, will he fit into the bassinet while you travel? if so, get that hooked up, and get your car seat either wrapped up in the plastic wrap thingy to prevent damage, or possibly throw it in a carton? that way you can pad and pack it properly and it becomes a part of your luggage. consider getting a baby carrier for any stop overs where you might have to walk around.

Re: car seat in pak

awww that's sooo adorable!!

yep we reserved the bassinet and got the baby carrier for our 14 hours stay in Dubai.

Lets see what do we decide about the car seat!! sighhh

Re: car seat in pak

Yaar rent it with the car.... And if u dont...take it onboard with u. Simple chachi!

Re: car seat in pak

thts my friend baby :)

GTG how many months old is ur baby? baby carriers r best when baby is less tahn 6 months else its bcome heavy last time i travelled wth my baby she was 10 months emirates didnt let me use baby bassinet :(

Re: car seat in pak

i have heard u cant take it on board u have 2 book it

Re: car seat in pak

DA...so cute.Is that your daughter...??

Gtg...He will very surely fit into the plane bassinet. So i think that should not be a problem.Regarding the safety for the car seat,as SGC said maybe pack it in a carton. But wont you have to pay for it as an extra luggage piece as you will have to hand over that piece before you reach the plane gate,I mean at the time of the rest of the luggage??.If you put it in the simple bag meant for the car seats during air travel and hand them at the gate,it wont ensure 100% safety and as you know you might not get it in Dubai
The strollers at Dubai airport are Mclaren (sp?) strollers and recline all the way back and become totally flat. They have disposable liners inside them for hygiene purposes.Your son can lie in them as he will be too young to sit in them.So that should take care of the issue of having a carrier of some sort for him during transit hours.
If your sister has a stroller maybe you can use that once you are in Pakistan. My understanding is that you need the car seat and stroller for Pakistan basically and not the air travel.Right...?

Re: car seat in pak

That is my understanding too. With my travel experiences and whatever I read/asked about it...it was that no car seat or stroller goes inside the plane (unless you pay a fraction of the cost of the ticket and have the FF car seat placed on a seat in the plane).
Might have been different for others but this has been my experience..>:)
