Gtg i havent seen the video yet will do so soon..the reason i prefer the graco one is cause of the base..i want to get the base installed in our car(alhamdolilah space isnt an issue) but ur video will b helpful if we travel in some other car then we'd noe what to do..
Re: car seat in pak
Sorry did not mean to offend the OP or anyone. And I did say that I might be wrong but something 'I' had noticed, mostly amongst the people I had seen using a carseat.
To the OP, sorry about your friend.I am sure if they start using it the way it is meant to be (with or without base) and not just a carrier to put the baby in,it could save lives.I still fail to see the logic to use one if you are not using it correctly or just putting it on the front seat.
Heeey which stroller did u buy DA? Iv been looking for a stroller which is compatable with a carseat but havent found one yet:s
^oh my thats terrible.. I am so sorryf or their loss!
and like I said before, check the manual, you may not even need the base to install teh car seat but you can definitely have one so it's just two clicks and you are ready to go.
To install the car seat without the base, the belt has to be in a locked position so check your vehicle for that too.
a little offtopic.. I got some motehrcare stuff from Dubai for my baby and it's adorable.. I wonder if they have such good variety in Pakistan too.. do they? how are the prices?
Will checkout the video to see if I can learn to use a carseat without having the base installed..if I am able to then I will use the carseat my mom has bought for me its without a base
Erm here mothercare has good variety of carseats, strollers and toys only. They had only two wooden cribs and two playpens (all of them unattractive) Not enough variety of clothes either..only 2bouncers and 1 swing was displayed..but even thats enough..something is better than nothing..we the becharas of pak r content with this even hehe
Prices were good..cheaper than graco..i have my eyes on a stroller which is only pkr8k and it is so cute..but I find their clothes a bit too expensive..4000 for a plain dress not good for me..in that case babyshop and zubaidas(having gap/carters/bambies) is a better place to shop for clothes

Its ok hun:) yes u r right y use it as a carrier if they stop doing that even strollers would become more common..plus using it like the way u mentioned wont that b more dangerous? Even a slight jerk could harm the baby..isse to bhtr lap mai he acha:/
I am still looking for a stroller which can be used with the carseat..does mothercare have such a thing? Graco doesnt:(

Re: car seat in pak
We are in the same dilemma and you guys are scaring me :( We are going to vacation and will take a stroller along but as for car seat our almost 8 month old is a bit big for it now, we can't take 2 things along, the seat and the stroller as it will be too much for us to carry around in transit and wait in Dubai. Anyway the car seat is not the base of the stroller, its a seperate thing but the car seat can be installed without a car base. Now I can ask the airline if we can take that along but then who will carry it ? and she doesnt even fit int it unless she is wearing summer cloths and then it is really tight.
2 we dont know what kind of car we will rent and even if it will have seat belts for all of us, 2 adults and 2 kids and a baby.
Shall I hold the baby in my lap ?
Re: car seat in pak
i remember my sister in law came from UK 2 dubai n thn pak n she booked both stroller n car seat n mind u car seat was front facing bigger 1 honestly speaking if u r gng 2 pak drop the stroller thing there is no much need there n take car seat ur baby is 8 months r u still using tht rare facing car seat? n if baby doesnt fit in it thn no purpose to take it honestly speaking i changed my baby car seat whebn she turned 6 months i started using that front seat :)
Re: car seat in pak
devlish, when we are coming back, we will buy a new car and then buy a new car seat for the little one. We do have a size 2 one, (for kid #2) that faces the front, but that is a heavy thing! No we cannot leave out the stroller as we have long stay at Dubai airport and we need it at home too so that the baby can sit on something other than on the bed or on the floor.
Re: car seat in pak
at dubai airport u can easily find stroller n u can use them but if baby doesnt fit in that car seat then whts the purpose of take it?
Re: car seat in pak
^^I was gonna add that piece of info. There are abundant strollers at Dubai airport and you can use them within the airport. If you are transit passengers they will not give you your stroller. You will get it at your destination.
Re: car seat in pak
yeah i mean the same u can use them at air port :) n even if u take stroller wth u it will be booked u cant hand carry it or else u have 2 tell the crew tht u need ur stroller n they will give u once u have landed
Re: car seat in pak
sahr the video I posted wasnt about installing the car seat without a base but with the base.. to install a car seat without a base, check the manual.
Saadia.. you check in the car seat and stroller at the gate of an airplane and then you get at that your destination. If you will like your car seat or stroller during transit, you have to request it. (multiple times, so I have heard)
do you guys worry about car seat being damaged (dropped or something like that without a visible sign) during the air travel? I am just concerned that if we take it to Pakistan and they accidently drop it withot us knowing about it.. how safe will be it for later?
Re: car seat in pak
Oh yes I forgat that you can use their strollers at the dubai Airport. Well now we dont have any choice as to have no car seat in Pakistan, as baby doesnt fit the stage 1 car seat and the stage 2 is way too heavy.

Oh u mean I can check the car seat at the gate, same as the stroller. Well thats a good option, I mean I will call and ask Emirates Airlines if we can take both. GtG we once took a stroller along and I tell you it was in no position to be used again after we returned, it gets damaged and quite dirty during the handling of it, and if its safe, u gotta check the visual signs, sorry but there is no other way of seeing this.
for us we are taking our older stroller along, its still in excellent position and as we cleaned it, its like new, we would like to leave it in pakistan so that the relatives can use it if needed and the same with the car seat, if we take along, we will not bring it back with us.
