The first job I got was in a warehouse of clothes by this desi uncle. First he used to be there when I arrived but soon after, he handed me the keys after I proved to be trustworthy and I was responsible for opening the warehouse, check for any shipment which might arrive etc etc and he used to come a little later (since he lived far)

My very first job was at the cafeteria of my school dorm working from the kitchen to the front counter. Pay was $3.35 an hour and my bi-weekly check used to be like $70 as I could work only part time. And trust me I was a happy camper back then! 6 months later, I became a security guard @ $4/hr. Then did some construction work during summer, man that was one tough job… Six months later changed the security company for better pay. Two years later got a better job working as a data analyst. This was all going while I was a full-time student. Today 20 years later, still working and counting years!

An internship at a travel agency (office work + computer management) that also earned me credit for a class in high school. I was 17 back then. Earned minimum wage $5.15/hr. After working for many months, I was hoping for a raise. I did get one and the day I got it, the owner/boss was very excited. She said “oh did you notice something on your paystub?:D” … I looked at it again and said no She said look, you got a raise! You will now earn $5.25/hr. I had to put fake smile on and say thanksss!
