This is not a call for sanctions against Pakistan as a country - only the military regime and the pocket-politicians in power. Those should be the ones punished for their actions and no one else. Just to clarify.

Sorry, we dont take suggestiosn by afghans regarding what we should do for Pakistan. Its an internal Pakistani issue and citizens of Pakistan need to solve it themselves without begging other countries for help.

major world powers probably knew and blessed this action, and there will be some statements keeping up apperances but that is it.

Sanctions ALWAYS effect the lower/middle classes. The leaders of that will never face the repercussions of their actions. This is true for Iran, Cuba.

Everyone and anyone is entitled to their own opinion. The ramifications of the actions won't be known until it's taken. Tell your reps to make statements in the press at the very least, vote against and thwart any military-military cooperation with Pakistan. Folks living in Norway and Scandinavia have the best shot as their foreign policies are the most unbiased..so do your part..

Sanctions against the regime is exactly what the USA insisted the sanctions on Iraq were all the way through to the bitter end - the USA insisted in domestic forums and international bodies that the sanctions against Iraq were not targetted at the people and were just targetted at removing the regime.
I can't believe that you want to see Pakistan's people deprived of jobs, medicines, and hope like the USA did in Iraq through sanctions targetted at the regime.

I can see that nervousness at the slightest glimmer of sanctions is starting to affect the ardent supporters of Musharraf. I have always criticized the Armed forces and their actions which will eventually sink the country. But, what do they care since their only motivation is to reap perks and financial benefits which come along with being an army general. This greed and perverted lust is the sole cause for them to regnade their duties; to uphold and protect the very fabric of country's vital institutions...

I don't support this emergency declaration but to actively call for sanctions is against Pakistan and its people. In fact there isnt even a discussion of sanctions in the US, UK and other countries.

very good idea but unfortunately it won't happen. USA will not impose any sanctions on pakistan bcos its not interested in finding a solution. as long as pakistan is willing to butcher its civilians for higher grades and money, USA wil keep it in its good books.
