Married ladies, how would you (do you) feel if (when) an unmarried guy calls you budhdhi aunty? Would you be more ticked to know that the unmarried guy is only unmarried because he is not getting any lift from the opposite gender, and not unmarried because he is some solaa saal ka chokraa?

Sheyn, that is exactly what I wanted to get at. This is exactly what girls are doing and getting away with that on GS. I am not talking about you calling me chachu or like that. I am talking about when the words are used in insulting manner
worst part is when you are get married and you are on height of your jawani-ness and you get called uncle

But a 60yr old called you baji? That’s just stupidity! OK, i am no spring chicken, but i wouldn’t call someone who is considerably younger than me (like you DDR) baji… why do asians have such an age complex? I have a jahil aunty (married in to the family) who reckons she’s younger than me, and boasts about it when we’re in social gatherings.. all right love, that means you were eight when you gave birth to my cousin then

Almost 90% of GS calls me aunty…even some known uncles call me aunty…aunty ji. If it makes them feel good, theek hai. Who cares.

It really depends ......most often when someone does that , they are really covering their own insecurities......I wouldn't let it get to me.....
I had some guys whom I know are older than me call me Sheyn aunty so I just reply Jee Beta and that puts them in their places because they don't get the response they were looking for !

Yes this Uncle called me baji. I kept calling him uncle and he called me baji all the way through our visit. It was annoying. The icing on the cake was when he thought my sister was my duaghter:smack: I still don’t understand what went wrong that day.

TLK if teh other person is in their mid 30s to late 30s. I don't think it's wrong to call them uncle or aunty. I'm 21 and I would find it rude to call them by their first name. Addressing someone by uncle or aunty is a form of respect in our culture ( in my opinion). On the otehr hand, I find it annoying when someone 8 years older calls me baji :( Baji bari behan hotein hain. Behan would be more appropriate.

TLK bhai, if someone addresses you in an insulting manner, what are you meant to do? there are really only two options:
Give as good as you get and insult them back, like Sheyn did?
Ignore it, even though you’re seething inside?
