when is your wedding??
if you're in tristate area, try going to the dulhan expo coming up beginning of december. it's their biggest one and they'll have alot of vendors coming.

Thanks guys - The wedding is in April - I don't wan't the too natural american look but I definately don't want over the top paindo makeup either.
I am in NJ so someone would have to come here. I don't want to go as far as the city for the makeup on the wedding day.

Not true at all she was amazing and paid attention to detail amazingly well. She has done a numerous number of brides and excels at what she does. She charged me $300 total hair and makeup which in my opinion is not bad at all.

Hi guys! I am getting married in May and looking for any good make up artist in newyork. I've heard alot about raheela even my bhabhi got her make up done from her but i still want to try other places since this day will come only once in ur life n i wanna make sure that i look the best ... i went around, have seen humaira's make up.. didn't like it .. then there is another one in hicksville, new look i guess ... n my in lawas are getting my make up done from ruby's.. do u guys know anything about her?

Unfortunately I don’t know ANY good makeup artists here in NY. The ladies have posted links to some good artists in the DC/VA area who also do NY too. Check that thread. I think if you ask the ladies, and of course, pay extra to cover their traveling expenses, they’ll come to NY for you. I think one in particular does NY too (she posted it on her website), and she seemed good. … lemme find the link… here it it:

saima did my wedding/valeema. She was a last minute choice. I had a horrible experience with new look salon in hicksville so I emailed saima on the night of my mehendi (2 am!!!) and she said she could make it...I was soo grateful she made it on such short notice to my bridal suite on both days. She is very professional minus any attitude and a total sweetheart. a bit expensive but she gave me exactly what I wanted.
Initially I had booked my makeup with Ayesha from singhaar...she was nice but when i went in for a trial I told her I wanted a pink and black smoky eye with hot pink lips for my wedding..but she did my trial and gave me eye makeup that was completely not what I wanted....she wasnt listening to me...kept telling me no no no that wont look good...I got turned off by it and did not book her.
Shahzaad in jackson heights (bollywood salon) is very reasonable priced in comparison to both ayesha and saima....his work is pretty good too. i think he charges 175 for one day and he has trained from pakistan. however he is very hard to get hold of so book waaay in advance.
raheela is mediocre...hit or miss.
if you go to studiosila.com ...the lady seems good and she will travel if you pay her travel costs.
new look salon...AVOID.

i was gonna try this place out, laaj studios, Laaj Studios - Pakistani Indian wedding photography and Bridal Makeup i emailed the woman and she replied back promptly. you can get a trial done and im positive that they are better than raheela and new look. they seem very professional and friendly as well. I wanted to know their party makeup charges and this was the reply i got from the woman:

Party/event makeup : $130 + traveling charges
Party/event makeup @ our location: $75
If you are also getting bridal makeover services from us you will have a discount for the party makeup. The party makeup will be $75 instead of $130. Please do not hesitate to contact me with further question.
I second Shahzaad in Jackson Heights. A family friend got her makeup done by him and she looked amazing.

Dude, i'd definitely check out raheelas..i mean if ur okay with the ghetto atmosphere, sometimes they do good makeup!
