Hello all. I’m new here. Wondering if anyone can help me find a bridal makeup artist in the New York (Queens/Long Isl/Manhattan/Westchester) area.
I went to New Look in Long Island for my engagement…and I thought she was very unprofessional. She’s apparently gotten the idea that she’s some sort of hotshot makeup artist so she doesn’t seem to care as much in delivering a good final product. Examples: She didn’t even have my appointment when I went in to see her…then tried to charge me extra when it came time to pay. Good lord. The makeup she did on me was okay…but I think she’s indian so she layered on very dark eyeliner to give a “smoky bollywood” look. Secondly, she was very distracted the entire time and didn’t even take care to properly blend my foundation. Once it had dried or whatever, it wouldn’t budge, so I couldn’t even blend it in myself. My mom wasn’t too thrilled with it.
I’ve visited Raheela in Brooklyn. Not impressed. Ghetto atmosphere. She does your makeup right in front of people getting their eyebrows or whatever done. She was playing some sort of loud punjabi music the night I went and was doing a bride. Uhh? Not too sure about her final product since I didn’t it done from there.
I don’t want to use a MAC artist mainly because I think MAC products are mediocre and the foundations are not long lasting.
I’ve heard of Laaj studios on here. If anyone has had experiences with other artists…please share
Also, has anyone heard of Areeba in LI? and also Shehzad in Queens?

Hi....thanks to those who replied. Unfortunately I live in Connecticut and I think Jersey city might be too far. Anyone else? I'm really interested in finding out if people have gotten m/u done by Shehezad in Queens. He's supposed to be very good. I had his number at one point I think.
What is so good bout these atta thop aunties and their sky rocketing prices.
You should spend that money on getting a good facial from a place where they do proper facials and get your eyebrows done and waxing and all.
Also spend the money on getting your hair done professionaly up in a do
If your skin is all clean and good then you can do your own makeup.
I did my own when I got married.
Thats the only time i’ve ever done makeup
But me and my mum started doing trial runs once we found out what the color of dress was for the wedding day.
then we took heaps of photos for every trial.
It helped us decide what to go for on the actual day.
And it turned out perfect, didnt look like any atta thopa howa.
On the valima i was taken to some top notch parlor on tariq road and nobody liked what they did to me.
it was blah!
