Ok I have to admit, I lovvvvvvvvvvvve the red one and have clicked on it quite a few times, but still some prices of others are quite high! LOL
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
^when are you gonna get over this? i wasn't talking about high prices, i was talking about machine embroidery prices.
in this case i think the outfits justify the prices and as i have mentioned before, he is practically selling them at the cost of making. yes, these outfits aren't cheap but neither the materials nor the workmanship. the finishing is very neat as you can see from the photos. if you click some of the close ups you can see what sort of stuff they do with such tiny dabka, cut dana and crystals. if you compare it to other outfits selling for similar prices, i think they would be hard to beat, even if they are not to your taste.
glad you liked the red one though.
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
^also, i know you can get similar look stuff cheaper in lahore. but again, the workmanship is not as good and they usually only look similar from afar, close-up there is a world of difference.
not only that, but i haven't found that any of the outfits from him start fraying in the work, as they do with cheaper outfits after one wear. dabka especially usually catches and starts unravelling.
the Golden Beige and Turquoise outfit above is mine, I've worn it twice already and it's still in perfect condition. can't say the same for outfits i've had made elsewhere. Compared to what you can buy in the UK for £147 it is reasonable.
Stoppit....youe beige outfit looks the best!
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
^ I agree love the outfit..
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
alishaht and shazzy: thanks guys :) i don't make a lot of outfits for myself so i do put in quite a bit of effort designing/tailoring them to how i want. in this case, he had an outfit with similar embroidery. the fabric i bought myself, found my own colour swatches (from ribbons, lol) and then made adjustments to the kaam to match the colours and the motifs on the chiffon.
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
stoppit ur own creations are so much better than his seriously u should perhaps take up designing? Im so in love with the baige............ I want I want!
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
my only hesitation in ordering from him is like u said u gave him the material & what if he uses his own material & it isnt as great as ur outfit........because its unlikely he can make the exact outfit..
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
^Shazzy, if that's the only thing please take my word for it that it will be great and you will love it as much as this one. it will be almost exactly the same.. as he made it and remembers it and what's in it better than i do!
that's just regular chiffon banarsi, the only difference will be that the tiny motifs in it won't be exactly the same. but he has a very good eye himself and he told me he will try and find one with a pattern as similar as possible and i trust him. as for the colour combo, he knows the shades he used to dye my fabric and once they do kaam, they keep a record of that to replicate it again later.
for my nikkah outfit, i only sent him the swatch for the mauvish colour inside and told him to dye the chiffon coat in a beige-ish colour that matches well. he chose that fawny colour himself and what kind of kaam to do on it so it's all coordinated - i didn't get to see anything until it was done since i was in the UK; i loved it and think he did a great job with his choices.
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
Thanks stoppit for ur reassuring words, what other colour combinations would u suggest that would look equally as good?
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
Would you like to keep the chiffon in a Golden Beige? If so, other than turquoise a deep peachy/pink would look lovely. Inspired by this: http://jeenybeen.typepad.com/gingko_leaves/images/pink_peach_rose_closeup2_1.jpg
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
No I want to perhaps see any other combinations for the same outfit? as in completely change the outfit colour all together?
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
Well that's the only version of that exact outfit that exists so I can't show you any more pictures. If you can choose a base colour for the kameez, I can help you pick a complimentary colour :)
just had a thought - you could keep the turquoise so the kaam stays the same and do the kameez/shalwar/duputta in a warm mid honey-brown.
p.s. i would try and keep the kaam the same. you will be more reassured if you know it's going to look the same. lots of colours can go with that turquoise.
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
I agree to keeping the kaam turquise however I want another colour instead of the beige but im completely clueless! help me! I have no idea what would go with turquise?
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
Kaam and piping in turquoise.
Chiffon dyed in:
Warm honey brown or
Dark Deep Royal Blue or
Peach (this is also an ‘in’ combo at the moment) or
Red (but the turquoise would have to be a stronger shade than that which I have used in my outfit) or
Taupe/Grey (my fav)
Here are some pics too:
once you have make your choice, he can always dye some pieces of fabric those colours and take photos for you so you can confirm they are the right shades, before he starts the outfit.
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
oh wow stoppit! I love the taupe & turquise & i also love the pink & turquise! oohh tough choice? Helppppppppppppp
Re: Formal Wear from Lahore based designer
lol hun, i love both too, it's a tough choice. as i have never seen you i don't know which would suit you and your personality best. i think your mum/sister/friend may have to help you decide!
otherwise, i'd say, day function: pink, night function: taupe
:)
