Re: how to manage d heavy wedding duppatta
^have you tried going for a trial with an updo? i was told by so many girls that dupatta was gonna be the worse thing ever and how my head was gonna hurt and my hair was gonna get pulled and blah blah.. i wasn't nervous about anything as much as i was about pinning dupatta! finally on the big day, the desi girl who did my hair told me she would pin it up for me as well.. you won't believe how easy she made it. she pinned it at several places on the shirt and in the back.. put alot of the weight of dupatta on one of my shoulders and the rest was pinned in my hair. she did it so neatly that the pleats she made at the back where the dupatta falls looked really nice as well. and i am really thin too so i was really worried but it worked out so well, alhumdulillah. dont worry, just play around a bit with it and you will get it perfect.

are u having a head piece in ur hair? my cousin didnt have one, an i think it was a big mistake... coz the duppatta was soo heavy and the hair was just flat! u need to have volume underneath the duppatta, it looks best, if ya know wat i mean. So try a head piece and see how it looks, btw have u been for a trial with the person who's doing ur make-up?
p.s. if you look like a soldier on ur wedding day, dont worry about it u can always doo the soulja boy dance..:D
this isnt even an issue , ur hairstyle will support dupatta n dont worry its onli fora few hours it wont crush u ,
y do u girls spend ages worrying over such petty things
what happend to looking beyond all this teyaarian n enjoyin ur day

i agree with u completely...this is what i think also...

dopatta style for bride
can anyone advise me dopatta style in which the bride looks slim and tall.........................waiting
Re: dopatta style for bride
i dunno if duppata styles can really achieve that...
bridal dupattas are so heavy and such tht they always work against it..
havin dupatta over ur head and then one side comin in front of u and the other side going back and the wrapped around the arm works for the best i guess...
This is such a useful thread!! Please post pics with dupatta setting ideas, My duppatta is really heavy on the two shorter edges whilst the rest is normal kadai. Half a meter across on both sides of the duppatta the kadai is quite heavy, making it a bit stiff, i regret getting so much kadai done on it but originally the whole duppatta was like that so we took it out on the central panel as once i sit down you wont really see the behind that much anway...
not sure if that description makes sense! anyways i need ideas for duppatta setting, i think i want it as out of the way as possible as I am wearing a rajastani lengha and i want that to be on display more...
sorry for essay!! help guys!!
when the duppatta is draped over one arm..that arm must get really tired??! also how do you stop it covering your churiyan that day if the duppatta is quite heavy and big?
Re: dopatta style for bride

Just came back from Pak withe the heaviest dupatta in the world - HELP!
Dear Guppies
I was in Pakistan for 4 weeks in which I had to get my Baraat and Walima Lengha's made from scratch and stitched. Thank Allah that I managed to get both done and am now safely back in the UK...
Due to load shedding (lack of electricity) the Lengha's were ready only the day I was leaving (delayed by 3-4 days each)... This didn't give me much time to check everything...
Now that I am back I have found that the Walima Lengha has one major problem - the dupatta is too damn heavy! I tired it on and with mom's help have been trying to find ways to pin the damn thing - whenever I put it on my head it gives me a headache and makes my clothes droop on one side or the other. I had requested that they make it light, but they made the thing so heavy!
What can I do to remedy this? Should I make a lighter dupatta from the boutique which will cost approx £100 or, should I wear a plain tissue/organza dupatta?
My Walima Lengha is cream all over with bottle green borders on neck, sleeves, bottom of kameez and bottom of Lengha... The border is very wide on the dupatta - despite my request to have it smaller - I guess something got lost in the translation (I do speak fluent urdu just in case you're wondering :)
So basically, this is a plea for help from all my Guppy sisters for some advice on good pinning or alternatives to the dupatta...
Oh and I have to wear 'something' on my head, in-laws are kinda traditional...!

Re: Just came back from Pak withe the heaviest dupatta in the world - HELP!
my Shadi ka jora duppata was very heavy.. but the makeup artist did a really good job pinning it up and i didnt feel the weight! I'd say go in for a trial with whomever ur getting ur makeup done with.. usually if the dupattas are heavy they add extensions to the hair so that it takes the pressure off of ur head! i dnt think u shud change it, itll spoil the whole "look"
^ i agree. please don't get a plain dupatta!
Re: Just came back from Pak withe the heaviest dupatta in the world - HELP!
Don't change the dupatta, the heavy dupatta is IN nowdays. I am getting married in Oct. & my dupatta is pretty heavy. Also, the broad border is in as well but don't worry IA the salon will do the dupatta setting.
