Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
Okay, just trust her. Kazmi is an experienced professional. We're all amateurs :D. The clothes are in good hands.

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
^Agreed
Anything that Bunto makes is gorgeous. I think since u've seen more of her work you'd know what she 'represents', right?! Trust the designer I'd say :-)
Ps- I vote for Bunto Kazmi, with a long shirt (how it's explained in the e-mail)
Right, right, right…it seems we are nearly there - i’ve just received an email from Bunto Kazmi and this is what they want to go ahead with:
*attached is a swatch that i want to replace for the green you chose. The colour (although) not visible clearly is identical to the green fabric you choose except two things: the design is different and the material is better. The green fabric you choose is not working out to be too durable so Bunto is not too happy using it. She has ask me to request you to consider this one instead. I can guaratee that you will not even notice the difference!! *
also I have discussed your jora at length with Bunto and we have decided the following:
shirt will be coral in french net like you saw
duppatta will be local cotton net in magenta with a border and bootis in the centre. no organza border will be added.
gharara will be green and magenta. The green will be the top part and the magenta will be the bottom part. we will then also add green as an accent on the duppatta and shirt.
It seems a slight departure from the original idea, considering the green fabric will now become the top half of the gharara…what do you guys make of this?
Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
i definitely prefer this green over the one! i know she says you won't know th difference- but the other one was wayyyy brighter and didn't have any coral in it... this one has the slight print in coral which wil tie it to the shirt. i'd say go for a slightly above knee length shirt - 1 or 2" as per usual gharara style- and after that, trust bunto. she has many, many years of experience making gorgeous clothes and i'll bet the picture she's envisioning with the full kaam etc., is stunning and better than any of us could imagine.
Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
Thanks SGC - I guess I just needed a little reassurance since the look will be different to the one we originally envisioned.
Did you note what they had to say about the length of the shirt in post 198 above?
Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
Yah, I'm just hoping that the coral in this matches with the peach of the shirt. I'm sure it will look nice. Trust her.
O.k. I got a reply from Bunto's assistant concerning the length of the shirt and using the green fabric - this i swhat she said:
"s regards the shirt, traditionally long shirts are worn over farshi ghararas and look better. However, fashion has altered the length of shirts many times over the years but once again people are wearing very very long shirts here. The idea is that once the weddign is over no one wears the gharara again but the shirt and duppatta can be utilised by wearing it with pants or shalwars etc... so we always suggest a longer shirt but uts really a personal preference.
Again , re the green fabric... I would leave it up to Bunto as to how she would like to use it. You must undertsand that outfits evolve as we make them.. sometimes Bunto will not like a particular combo even if she has suggested it earlier and change it if she feels soemthing else looks better. Therefore, I would suggest you leave that up to her.. if she feels that she needs to use it in the gharara she will.. otherwise it can remain as an accent."
Where to go from here?
Hey...is it possible to get the contact info for bunto please?
Thanks in advance.
Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
I love it!!!!! I love the fact the green has a gorgeous shade of peach (coral)?? in it!!!! It will look beautiful! Mashallah!! the design sounds great!
I had a gut feeling she was going to add some green.... :)
Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
Hey Chnda - it look's your suggestion of a peach and green combo came true! It seems you and Bunto think alike :)
Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
ziggy...what material is the shirt? and is it embossed or plain? what about the magenta half?
the magenta net dupatta i am guessing..will have the coral and green kaam....

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
even though they say that the color looks the same--to me it looks much softer than the original emerald:)
Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
This cloth is much prettier and can tie everything together since it has the coral in it.....cant wait to see the final product!
Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
What is Bunto's price range for shararas? Is she as expensive as Karma, HSY, etc?
Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
just noticed..the new green is similar to the green on the chatta patti of the sample gharara she sent u......and the sleeves look amazing there:):)
What is Bunto's price range for shararas? Is she as expensive as Karma, HSY, etc?
Bunto's price range varies - her heavy authentic mughlai type bridal outfits are comparable to the HSY price range. They usally start at around 1.5 lakhs for a basic jora and then hit 6 - 7 lakhs for the really heavy ones.
I've noticed however Karma bridal outfits on the other hand tend to cost a little less than Bunto and HSY outfits...
even though they say that the color looks the same--to me it looks much softer than the original emerald:)
It's definitely much softer than the original and I guess the coral in the green fabric will probably make the outfit as little more cohesive...let's see what happens! :)

Hey Chanda - the shirt material is supposed to be French Net. She claimed it was the "ferrari" of fabrics and very high quality. The original peach/coral silk fabric I had chosen was apparently not suitable for shirts. She claimed the fall of the shirt would definitely look better with the french net and that the swarovski kaam on it would hold well together on the fabric.
She wants to use the new green fabric that i've posted above for the top half of the gharara, which I think is a silk jamawar. She said the gold thread in the original green fabric i posted was very flimsy and the fabric would fall apart.
The magenta net duppata is supposed to have the border and bootis in the centre of the duppata, but I think she said she would use only the green as an accent on it...
Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
ziggy..that sounds amazing!! I love french net (i think its called chanel lace..I bought some from dallas earlier this year… a 1.5 yrd piece for $350 …when you touch this stuff..it feels like silk…i am getting the swarovski/pearl kaam on it…
i had a gold lace shirt made a couple of years ago…and had worn it so much… ![]()

Re: Bridal dress dilemma - Which one???
OMG, Chanda, that fabric is out of this world...and the colour is soooooo amazing! I bet the swarovki and pearl kaam will look gorgeous on it! :)
The thing is I haven't seen the french net they want to use because we initially saw like a silk banarasi fabric. But going by the pic you posted, I'm not worried at all now...
