**bisoux: **these are pics of the red/purplish blue-ish color i was talking about...
the blue is there and its quite rich but its subtle and classy.
hmm i like the under the dupatta idea and I like the last one........have you seen the blue and red dress on the bargello website ........sigh if only i can post the link.......i think its on the 4th page
i know what you're talking about-
its this one right?
i don't know about this one... it just doesn't say "Bridal". i'd wear it as a guest with a bit less kaam but i think there are better options out there!
no that's the one I was thinking of orginally but there's another one on the 4th page maybe....its a darker red
red derives from the indian culture - which us pakistanis have adopted. Pls correct me if im wrong but the colour red doesnt signify anything to us pakistanis, where as the indians wear it as it signifies lakshmi/godess - if u understand what i mean.
the first one.....aww thanks for posting
but now i'm thinking of going with all red cause i dunno how that would look the blue and red
the first one is a split skirt lehenga... interesting!
i would tone down the blue... its just too much IMHO.
but you like the blue piping/lining so maybe go with that... you get the best of both worlds then, no?
bisoux: this one’s a bit too chaotic for me… its very full but the pattern isn’t adding anything to the outfit but confusion.
on this one http://www.paklinks.com/gsmedia/files/MaHaM%2BNadeeM/041.jpg
i’d keep the kaam as is… the pattern on it is so lovely and well put together… if you added more, it might end up taking away from the whole, u know? and its pretty heavy concentrated kaam too. it makes sense and it looks different from the usual. you could probably add more to the dupatta to make it heavier. i love the neckline/sleeves! i wanted that for mine! but apparently unless you’re there, getting it done this way is a pain for the tailor. boo!
but i love how drapey/flowy the material is!

and zazzy, thanks! :)
yea true
do you know where I can get a dress like the split red one in Karachi....that is if you're from karachi lol
maybe I can take the picture and show to a designer or something
i don't live in karachi no but i do know a designer you could show it to who could copy it for you. her name is rehana mirza, she lives in defence and her number is 589 4194
if you ring her now and ask for her email address and send her this pic, she'll be able to tell you how soon she can do it and how much it'll be. my lehenga is full of very intricate kaam, not just on the dupatta, and she did it for 67000 rupees. her prices are amazing and her kaam is worth it!

there's no umm area code or whatever....wow hmm maybe i'll check her out too ...price range is ok so far .......i'm only worried about the valima dress price :(
oh so you're getting yours from there? If so I like it
No I wasnt disagreeing w/ u I was just saying that there is no “must” color to wear, like arab/goris have white, we have every color of the rainbow, including red…
bisoux: i dunno if karachi has an area code for each number like 416 or 905 in toronto. dialing from Canada is usually 011 9221 and then the number. probably the same for NY too?
no its the whole uncomfortable situation of goint with your in-laws to buy it …and I dunno how much they want it to be …so annoying
yea I was thinking of a light pink
oh so its 9221…yea its the same i got it thanks
