Although it seems like a BIG controversy, and everyone seems to have an opinion on this, purely from a cricketing stand-point, Shoaib is largely a non-factor in our team's success or failure. He hardly plays much (either banned due to doping, fitness or disciplinary grounds), and even when he plays, one has to check statsguru to remember when was the last time he played any critical role in Pakistan's win.
Shoaib's supporters are not too anxious because they feel with a new govt in Isloo, Naseem Ashraf's own days are numbered, and Akhtar surely has enough political backers to get this ban reversed. Ironically, even if the ban is lifted, Akhtar will remain largely a non-figure in Pak cricket. He is that kind of empty pot that keeps making the loudest noise.
I was listening to him on Capital Talk today, and he makes good points. Being a 150+ mph bowler does take its toll on a bowler's body. He acknowledges fitness problems, he admits being a loud mouth, he boasts that he is a national hero and doesn't get the respect... blah blah blah. At some point, a player stops being a player, and all that rermains is just a nuisance factor.
Akhtar is a fantastic bowler, who will remain legendary for under-achieving and for wasting his enormous talent.

I respect your experience. But you're on the wrong side of argument this time around. Nobody likes Naseem or any adhoc admins, their actions speak volumes about their incompetence. lekin aapko diplomatic rehna parta hai with celebrities, ye hum bhi samjhte hain, profession ka hissa hai. Otherwise you would be condemening him from the base of your heart. Any wise man will do the same thing. Country and game comes first, Bradmans, Richards, Imrans or Tendulkars come after.

well another dirtbag Geo TV's Kamran "Liar" Khan.. in his one hour daily ranting called "AAJ WITH KAMRAN KHAN" unleashed a barrage of lies and baseless allegations against our true hero Shoaib Akhtar. in the segment he constantly attacked his character showing his photos with women... Kamran the cheapster didnt had anything against our hero .. therfore he was left with only a cheap "low-blow"...
i knew Kamran will go to any extent to destroy our hero's character.. but not this low...
