IMHO, the foreign policy in regards to the overall "war on terror" has to be modified. Times following 9/11 were much different than now. Right now Pakistan has its own priorities to look after and pleasing or meeting the U.S. goals is not only unrealistic, but to some extent foolish.
I know Pak Army may/will lose some/all aid, but that's a small price to pay to curb the daily loss of life. I have confidence that Pakistan can on its own terms handle the problem of terrorism, but it must revise and retaylor a policy that is best suited for the current circumstances and environment.
Word has it, the issue of and planning for war on terror never got discussed in the Parliament. Now it might actually get discussed as a national issue, that it is. We can pray and hope for the best. Many heads thinking together for a common solution is better than one head thinking it knows how to take care of it all. You all know what i'm talking about.
Yeah, the country of 160 millions should succumb to the terror of a few thousands ? Have we not made deals with them staying out of their areas asking them just not to create mischief elsewhere? How do you make a deal with serial murderer who doesn't intend to stop.

It is so ironic, that Jihadis are successfully carving out, bombing out, killing and maiming people in the name of Islam, and yet Pakistanis are busy debating the virtues of democracy, America, and Palestine.
For historians, this scene is eerily similar to the time when Abbasi Khilfat was about to go down the drain, and yet the Baghdadis were busy debating that Quran is Khaliq or Makhlooq.
If it was another nation, especially an alive nation, everyone would have gathered around, shoulder to shoulder, ready to defend the motherland.
Unfortunately, Pakistanis have now become living copies of Afghanis ready to import all the virtues and vices of the Islamic Jannat of Afghanistan.
May God protect our motherland, as few of its citizens are ready to protect it, ready to do their duty.

Absolutely... we have a very good example of what kind of ideas Afghan warlords have about the role of Government and Islam...remember the Afghanistan of 90's. When America left them to their own devices (which they want America to do again), they started fighting each other for control. They are warlike people, and if left alone, that's what they want to do. Unfortunately, in their hatred of the infidels, the Pakistani people are accepting the struggle of these Afghan influenced tribal warlords, who will love to turn Pakistan into another Afghanistan. It's frustrating that Pakistani people don't realize that these guys are fighting 'tribal' warns, not Islamic wars!

These suicide attacks in Pakistan did not start after Lal Masjid incident. They were being already carried out here in Pakistan since 2002 mainly against shia people.

That's what i'm saying...can the Govt. provide sufficient security to make people come out. People are afraid you know. People can't even step outside w/out knowing for certain if they'll come back home alive.
^^ do the security risks not exist for Lawyers' rallies, Anti Musharraf rallies, Cartoon and Movies rallies? Why is this situation unique?

Well some months back, a suspected persons prohibited lawyers to go towards the place where a suicide bomber killed many policemen after a while in Lahore.

Well, Tehrik-e-Taliban-e-Pakistan (TTP) leader Maulana Faqir has few demands. Pakistan government should fulfil those demands and all Pakistanis would get their peace. I mean peace, as after fulfilling their demands, Pakistan will be their colony following their cult religion that is nothing to do with Islam.
To note in their demands: Pakistan should not have their own independent policy but it should be what TTP considers right, and if Pakistan do not listen to TTP, than TTP has right to wage war against Pakistan. TTP wants Pakistan, being a Muslim country, to fight against USA and their allies all over the world and impose TTP brand of Islam, their cult religion, all over Pakistan. No more no less. What TTP wants is, how Pakistan do that does not matter, but Pakistan should be run as Taliban was running Afghanistan.
If government of Pakistan does not listen to them than they have right to shove a bomb in their Ass*ss and blow Pakistani men, women and children, anywhere in Pakistan.

KHAR, March 9: Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) leader Maulana Faqir Mohammad has said that the United States is the “number one terrorist” and the entire Muslim Ummah, in particular Pakistan, has been suffering because of its hegemonic policies.
Addressing a gathering in Bajaur Agency’s Aanayat Kalley area, the Maulana said that Pakistan had been turned into a battlefield because of President Pervez Musharraf’s pro-US policies.
“Waging jihad (holy war) against the US and its allies is an obligation of every Muslim, irrespective of state boundaries,” he said.
“Pakistan is our country. We love it. Osama bin Laden and Mulla Omar are also sincere to Pakistan and its people and they don’t want war with them,” he said.
“Bush is our enemy number one and till his defeat everywhere in the world, we will continue our war.”He said the “Taliban have every right to attack troops and installations” because of Pakistani rulers’ anti-Mujahideen policy.
He told the gathering that no person would be pardoned for “spying for the US forces”.
The Taliban leader warned the Afghan refugees in Bajaur “to leave their jobs in the Afghan government or vacate the area”.
He termed the narcotics business as ‘haram’.
AFP adds: Maulana Faqir said: “Mujahideen have the right to wage jihad against the rulers in the nook and corners of the country as a result of continued operations against them.
“We do not want to capture the government, but we want imposition of Islamic system in the country.”

LOL ...... I think tomorrow one more Moulvi will stand-up and ask Government to implement Islamic Laws.
A massive operation is required to give these Moulvis a real lesson. A good strategy is needed to gather all these so called culprits and responsibles of downfall of Islam and Islamic teachings...The Great Moulvis....and re-brain wash them towards a peaceful life style.
Many Moulvis are involved in robberies of Bank as they raise money/funding for their organisations like mentioned above.
Root cause of the problem is again 1980's Ziaulhaq's so called Islamization in Pakistan.
