Brazil demands UK explain shooting

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

Geez Faisal, the Saudis get it, even if you don’t.

Editorial: Pure Evil
24 July 2005 After London, now the Egyptian tourist resort of Sharm El-Sheikh. Evil continues its rampage around the globe. Yet more innocents are slaughtered on the altar of hate. Where next, people ask.

This is not the first such atrocity in Egypt. The 1996 attack on Greek tourists in Cairo, which left 18 dead; the September 1997 killing of nine German tourists outside the Egyptian Museum in Cairo and two months later the devastating massacres of 58 tourists in the Valley of the Kings; last year’s bombs in the Sinai resorts of Taba leaving 34 dead; the deadly bomb last April at the Khan Al-Khalili souk in Old Cairo, another tourist haunt. All were carried out by militants intent on destroying Egypt’s tourist industry, Egypt’s livelihood.

Yesterday’s barbarity follows a pattern — a pattern of pure evil, so evil that most people find it difficult to believe that human beings could do such things.

How can anyone justify the killing of innocents? No. religion condones it. Yet that is what the militants do. What is that justification to target Egyptian workers at a downtown cafe? Why did they merit death?

Most of those killed yesterday were Egyptians. It is impossible to fathom the terrorists’ warped thinking, but they clearly think that ordinary Egyptians, like ordinary Londoners, are disposable.

Theirs is not just a war against the Egyptian economy and government, it is a war against the entire Egyptian people, as it is against all the people of Britain, of Spain, of Lebanon, of Iraq, of Indonesia, of the US — of everywhere. The terrorist is at war with the entire world.

It is not enough to hunt down and destroy these men of evil. The thinking that drives them must also be destroyed. That puts a special responsibility on decent human beings everywhere. These fanatics claim to act in the name of Islam. That has to be shown to be a lie.

Their vision of the faith is so warped, so twisted, that it has nothing to do with Islam. They pollute it, they make it feared, even hated elsewhere in the world, they bring shame and humiliation to the faithful. They have departed from Islam. Muslims here and elsewhere must tell the world, not just once but again and again, every time the fanatics attack, that they have nothing to do with Islam, that they have been cast out.

Until the message gets through the world, Islamophobia will continue to grow. Until it gets through to the fanatics themselves, unless they realize they are damned, the slaughter of the innocents will continue.

No major city in the world will be spared — not in the West, not in the Muslim world, not anywhere. In their minds, we are all disposable, we are all potential victims of their all-encompassing hate.

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

Where were you Ohioguy...when the Americans were helping(militarily and logistically) the same Mujaheedins( including Bin Laden & Co )against the Russians in Afghanistan. I guess if the 'jehad' is against your enemy than it is not 'terrorism'. Guess what, the chickens are coming home to roost.

America's foreign policy is one that is based on ruthless self-interest rather than on any principles of freedom and peaceful co-existence that Bush likes to tout.

Bush invades Iraq on the mere presumption that Iraq was developing WMDs. And here is Pakistan which is a confirmed nuclear proliferator to North Korea (no less) and Libya...yet Pakistan is America's friend in its war against terror. btw, I am an Indian so I will understand if my opinion is considered biased....but to me , it is irrefutable truth.

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

true it WAS a sad accident, 1st followed and then pinned down to ground by policemen and after he was on ground! 5 Shots (not one or two, 5 shots from same Policman’s handgun). on top of that this stupid Brazillian guy wasn’t even carrying a ruksack or backpack! all this a SAD accident!

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

rest assured, indians should not be worried about being resembled as “south asian looking Brazilians”…the fact of the matter is that an Indian (especially hindu indian) is so different from rest of the world with a “red tilk” on his forehead and full of idlie-dossa smell that no one and i repeat it no one would ever resemble them to even pakistanis let alone brazilians who have pretty good looking genes:) …yarr Biker 11, look at the pictures of the innocent brazilian above again…does he look alike an average indian from any angle…:(:(…

…an even if an indian is killed for being resembled to any other nation , it is an elevation of his looks and whole indian nation should be greatful for it

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

by the way the only thing that i am thinking from last 2 days is that why in the world he was wearing such a heavy padded coat in a humid london summer......

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

No, the hundreds and thousands of victims of homicide bombers (which don’t deserve multiple thread tributes from you :frowning: ) did not know what was coming either, as these scumbags don’t wear any uniforms.

Why I know you don’t want to be profiled, realize that the victims of homicide bombers are already being profiled before they are blown to pieces.

Still trying to stick your head in the sand, huh Seminole? An innocent Brazilian was brutally murdered by the English police, and you have no way of condemning that, because it shames war mongers like you.

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

phoenixdesi, his family explained that fact today. It is because some Brazilians find even summer weather in the UK cold and often dress warmly. The London police were slammed in a report some years ago for being “institutionally racist”, so you would not expect them to understand much about Latino/South American culture.

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

thanks for the clarification.

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

He had lived there for 3 years...he wasn't on vacation. I can understand someone from south india or zimbabwe or mexico or even brazil on a trip to london where he might feel cold. But that is a bit odd.

**Mr Pereira said police had watched his cousin get on a bus. They followed him for about 500 metres.

"If he had a bomb he could have blown it off on the bus. Now what they (police) have shown is that they are incapable and stupid.**

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

well that red tilk or red dot might be misunderstood by the trigger-happy police as some button for detonation of explosives…darn u indians are in real dilemma now…

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

Sorry, I don’t have much time to respond. I am busy reading all your posts that condemn the homicide bombers that have put the London police on ede. Does it shame you?

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

Such a tragedy, an innocent guy was followed from home, stopped by plain clothed police and he runs away scared, toppled, rendered helpless and shot 5 times, and after that we have people defending police action… bravo bravo, no wonder you guys support the so called war on terror

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

I don’t have time as well, as I am busy reading your posts defending the slaughter of Muslims across the world by your country’s military.

Re: Brazil demands UK explain shooting

I wonder if such bigots will go and defend this action in front of the grieving parents of this guy?
