Brazil has demanded an explanation for why one of its nationals was shot dead on a London Underground railway train by British police probing bomb attacks in the city. The cousin of Jean Charles de Menezes, 27, meanwhile said the victim did not have the type of history that would prompt him to run away from authorities. “The Brazilian Government is shocked and perplexed to learn that a Brazilian citizen was killed (Friday) … in London by police, apparently the victim of a lamentable error,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement. “The Government awaits the explanation British authorities must supply about the circumstances which led to this tragedy.”
**London police, which at first said the shooting was linked to its probe of Thursday’s failed attacks in London’s public transportation system, later said he was not connected to the case after all. ** “I asked that the body be released as quickly as possible, we need to bring him to Brazil, which is what the family wants,” his cousin, Alex Alves, told Globo television. “He does not have a past that would make him run” from police, Mr Alves said. He said his cousin had lived in London legally for three years and was heading to his job as an electrician when he was killed. Another cousin, Aleide de Menezes, said Jean Charles de Menezes spoke English very well and would have understood police instructions, CBN radio reported.
Unless ofcourse, the police are in “plain clothes”. The guy saw 4-5 non-uniformed guys pointing guns at him and shouting. And he ran. Moral of the story is to just stand still and get shot by any Tom, Dick and Harry.
Let's be grown ups here. The "villians" here are not the police. This guy is dead because of collateral bomb damage. The four low life animals who tried to explode bombs and kill hundreds of innocents killed this guy as sure as if they he was standing next to them when the bomb went off. Lest we not forget, there are four murderers who started this. The London Police have historically shunned guns, but this time it is different.
I hope the police are not cowed by this. Their task is to find four low life murderers and to capture them if they can, and if not kill them to prevent them from murdering others. The police should be angry, there have been eight attempts to kill Londoners in the last two weeks. The four that escaped are desperate animals, and presumably would do anything now that their pathetic first attempt at suicide failed. Lets pray that thier second attempt at suicide involves no one other than themselves.....

This happened because of the heightened tension and security because of the bombings. While this is tragic, unless this becomes a trend, this is a lot of hullaboo for the death of one man. 88 or so died in Egypt yesterday. Dozens of innocents die everyday in Iraq by suicide bombs. While I understand that potentially-profiled people are apprehensive that this may be the new norm, it won’t be. If it is I’ll be opening threads with the rest of you.
