Re: Bina Khan experiences.
bina khan hates brown makeup and insists on pink makeup, from what i've read.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.
^ you mean she hates pink make up and insists on brown right? cause virtually all her brides have brown make-up!
Re: Bina Khan experiences.
i was reading her blog where she has explicitly stated that she doesn't understand why women go for brown makeup and how they look much older, and how she's practically a one woman revolutionist in terms of trying to get our women to switch from browns to pinks and look younger. it was a very long entry.
But i guess you guys would know better, Im not from karachi and don't know a Bina khan bride personally, but seeing the pics posted here I did think most of the girls looked a little too brown, but then i thought "what do i know":)
Re: Bina Khan experiences.
Yeah it's interesting that she would say that because I find most of her brides with more of the brown hues and earthy tones than pink shades.
Re: Bina Khan experiences.
I've been to bina khan's salon otherwise and the service and experience was impeccable.. i've seen pictures of brides which is why i decided to book her for my july wedding.. the only reason i'd have wanted to take my own foundation is because MUA seem to have a limited amount of shades and i'd want one that strictly matches my skin tone.. but i guess that's a thing of the past and MUA have grown and seem to carry a variety of foundation shades.. i just thought it'd be an option to ensure i dont end up looking white or cakey.. unfortunately i've also had a terrible experience at sabs for my engagement.. they were late.. they were assembly line.. they were rude and they totally absolutely caked me up.. and they had a TERRIBLE blow dry which made me look like a frizzy mess in humid karachi weather.. i guess i'm just a little paranoid after that experience.. but it helps to know good things about bina khan since i've already paid in advance and i havent found any other MUA that has suited my style
i'm sure you'll be a gorgeous bride! :)
Re: Bina Khan experiences.
For example, would I be able to tell her I absolutely do not want red lips. Will she be okay with it?
no personal experience, but from her comments on her blog and FB album, she seems to be reserved with color in general, esp. red lips. in fact, she told someone on her discussion board that she thought navy-blue eyeliner/shadow was a 'crazy idea' which not everyone could pull off. so i don't think you'll have a problem with that. she also hates fake lashes with a passion and tends to do flat, taut updos for most her brides (not every bride is blessed with peepers like brooke shields and flat hair doesn't look good with a dupatta on it. i just find it weird that she's so rigid with her clientele but maybe that's the general case with PK MUAs). it's a pity though, because she seems to be the only MUA there who does a decent, natural-looking base but i wished she wouldn't replicate the brown smokey eye on all her brides. if the bride is wearing white, she'll still do a brown smokey eye. or worse, solid black. if sabs is an assembly line, how is she any different (in terms of the final look, not the salon experience). that all said, i think you can expect to look good/natural because she's "safe" and never does anything out of the box. her brides look good, but nothing extraordinary or striking.
Re: Bina Khan experiences.
^ I don't think she's the only one that does a natural-looking base.

i agree! i've noticed that too and it really irks me because she's got decent skills otherwise. she loves to say she loves pinks and corals but i've never seen her use a coral lipstick. ALL her brides have the brown smokey eye regardless of what they're wearing, and she still gets trails of "bina, mashallah you have magic in your hands, you're a makeup-god!" comments on FB. (this tells me there's a market in karachi for MUAs if ppl are so impressed with work you'd get at a mac counter outside of pakistan). also, why does she use the same insipid peach/caramel lip color on every bride? i've even seen it on red brides! why, god, why??
Re: Bina Khan experiences.

no, you're right, she doesn't. i actually like her hair stylists' makeup portfolio better than hers (nadya hussain, the dawn stylist who cuts hair at her salon). i was just trying to think of a compliment to give her to tone down my rant, haha. :P
Re: Bina Khan experiences.
i dont like her work at all. she makes ppl look south indian even if their pathan

I thought I was the only one with the a problem with the hair! I agree with everything you have said. And imo, nearly all brides need some falsies to bring some 'oomph' to the look. They don't have to be obviously fake, there is a huge choice of more natural looking lashes. And the smokey eye doesn't suit her brides that have pronounced sockets. It would be really nice to see her tailor her looks a bit more to the individual. some brides rock the red lips, so why not?!

that's racist !!!!!! are you implying something about South Indians. Really i feel Pakistani's are more racists then the whites nowadays !!!!
