Bina Khan experiences.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

Oh no. I already have a proper mehndi wali booked. They're so easy to find in Karachi for one, and for the other, my family is big on getting mehndi applied together. :) So the whole khaandaan comes and gets it done aik saath. :)

Also, I don't think she offers mehndi application...

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

Oh, ok that was just for eid.

I would appreciate it if you can put down the contact info of any mehndi walis you have in the following thread:

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

I like her mani/pedi. The body shop mani/pedi is as good as OPI so you can save Rs. 250 there and no matter what you choose, the girl spends almost same time. The protein treatment did no good to my hair though!
Has anyone got a hair cut from her stylist Nadia? How was the experience?

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

And here's the catch. The 25% off of services is only for brides who have booked Bina for both the shaadi and the valima. So if you have her booked for just one day, no discount for you.

Also, the receptionist aka rude ***** (excuse my language, but that woman pisses me off like no other) says it'll take 3 and a half hours to get me ready which will get me to the hotel late. Advice? Anyone?

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

^Then go there early. It does take that long to get a bride ready.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

That isn't my point, I have no issues getting there early. My concern is whether or not they will push the appointments back. Seeing how they're so finicky about this sort of stuff, I'm wondering how to approach the whole situation.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

Um, I think the parlours have a ** first come first served basis**. If you are the 1st bride to arrive then they would start working on you rather than make you wait.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

Hmm. I think I might go and speak to someone directly, just so the time is figured out before-hand...

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

You're in the same boat i was in last year. I'm afraid she might not adjust her appointments for you! Till last summers she had slots of two hours starting from i guess 3 or 4 in the evening.. she wasn't booking more than two brides for each slot. I got the appointment in last slot i.e. from 7-9 and my family wasn't happy about this since they thought it was very late. I wasn't in Pakistan and the receptionist wasn't willing to help my sister. So, I contacted Bina on facebook and she said that all the slots had already been taken up so she cannot reschedule! I canceled my bridal appointment (family had a valid point) and used the amount i had paid for services etc. You are right.. i was denied of the 25% discount when i canceled the appointment.
Services were good so i didn't bother much about all the hassle though it had caused me significant inconvenience.
You should better contact her ASAP if you want to reschedule!

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

^Thank you for the heads-up.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

she is amazing
but her colors are too dull for a bride..
it suits light skined brides cuz it shows more on their skin..

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

Went in and had a talk with the receptionist. Was very very very nice, and thankfully, she reciprocated the gesture and we got it all settled. Fingers crossed, and duas happening that everything goes well IA.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

Yayy.. All the best!! InshAllah you will rock on your big day!! :)

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

^Thank you! That's very sweet of you to say! :D

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

And I'm back. :)

She did an AMAZING job Alhamdulilah. The atmosphere was great, all the workers very nice (though the girl who did my hair was a little harried), and Bina was super super nice and very professional. She did a FABULOUS job with the base, my skin looked fantastic, and the initial pictures look really nice, Alhamdulillah. So yeah, I am quite pleased. :)

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

So glad to hear that :) .. I soo wanted to be her bride... i totally love the calm and relaxing atmosphere!

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

Congrats on getting hitched, GAF!

Here's my review:

  1. Bina is the best you can find in Karachi. Everyone else is really over the top. Especially SABS. I hated their make up and general unprofessional ism and lack of cleanliness in the salon.

  2. It's true, she doesn't like feedback from the client and likes to have it her way. When I told her what I wanted, she replied and said, "if you're gonna say so much.. might as well do the make up yourself".

  3. Manis and pedis are very nice, not because of anyother reason except that the music is playing and the environment is really relaxing. But for that money, I can get a longer pedicure (which I enjoy, b/c a longer foot massage is just swell) at places like Neelo's in Khi.

  4. My makeup was pretty good.. I liked it. I don't think it would've been better anywhere else. It wasn't too simple. In fact, I told her a few times to go a bit lighter... but she used her judgment and it turned out alright.

  5. Hair is tricky. You must be super finicky with her girls and tell them specifically what you want or you risk being made to look bald b/c they pull it too tight and use WAYYYY too much hairspray.

All in all... I say go to Bina Khan over any other make up artist but don't expect the perfection you'll find in salons in North America b/c that's just not there. I'd say she's the best of the worst.

If you're not sure about Bina, your best chance is to do the make up yourself by practicing on yourself a few times. This is also something I highly recommend and would've implemented if I had some more time.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

Yup, YouTube is a great way to learn how to do your own makeup, I find. Plus, it's always good to know how to do makeup in the case of emergencies or where you know you'll want to look simple such as your engagement (in my case, I'd prefer to) or mehndi/dholki/mayoun.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

That's just great! It is good to hear good stories about local vendors!
