Bina Khan experiences.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

i havnt had a bridal experience with her but party makeup yes, everyones right about the fact that she expects u to trust her with ur face which is usualy very hard for us girls.. i for eg butted in concerned about my base didnt want a tanned look and her instant reaction was i dont do lahori makeup incase ur looking for fair pinky cheeks and extended liner ur not in the right place!! i tryed to tel her how i was more comfi wid the makeup but she was very firm about the fact that she does it HER WAY so just shutup.

As a result, i was tanner then my normal complexion i had smokey eyemakeup (sumthing i really didnt want) and to top it off she used copper blushon which made everything on my face just a little more darker

The one thing i did like however was the fact that she does not use fake lashes on her clients not even on brides, she told me shes against it, instead she used this superb mascara by bodyshop( i got hold of it the next instant) which gave the same body and length that fake lashes do but they're perfectly your own, and u dnt have to worry about them peeling off :)

ps: i wanted sum advice on the hairstyle but she was no help at all when i asked her what kind of jewelary wud look better on me(i took two earings) she said which ever one u like. Maybe u have to pay extra or sumthing to get her to talk, God knows!

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

^Really? Maybe you caught her on a bad day, she was unbelievable chatty with me and my two sisters, commenting on our clothes, and jewellery and everything. When my sister was having issues getting the girl to understand how she wanted her hair done, Bina stepped in and explained what my sister was saying, and it turned out great!

But like I said earlier, I've heard she has an attitude problem, so I guess if you interrupt her once, she basically turns off her helpful mode...

thats sad to hear ...when was that hina? actually one of my friend also had similar experiance with her recently.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

Yeah, that is sad. I mean what does she want you to do? Worship the ground she walks on? And her makeup always is the same brown-smokey eyes and red lip so it's not even that is some makeup goddess.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

I just recently had my hair done up there for an event so I thought I'd also add to this thread. I think Bina does some great makeup sometimes but to be honest, when I was over there I found her to be just incredibly full of herself. She kept on blabbering about herself non-stop while doing makeup, going on and on about her expertise and what she thinks is best, etc. It got really tiring to listen to it after a while. Also, I took a picture of an updo from their own Facebook page, had requested an appointment with the same lady who had done that hair, and they still couldn't replicate the hairstyle exactly! I found that really strange! And I have normal hair, so I doubt that was the problem. The good points were that the salon uses top quality products, and my updo managed to withstand hours of jumping, dancing, sweating, chasing after my siblings in a wedding hall, etc. The worst part was - the salon is so darn SMALL! They only have about 4 seats to do hair and makeup in! And since thanks to her blog, Facebook page and column, Bina's increasing in popularity, she's heavily booked, because of which half of my hair was done while sitting on a wooden stool sharing a mirror with some other girl getting a haircut by Nadya :(! Even the two brides that were getting ready barely had enough room to sit and everyone kept stepping on their dresses because there was barely enough room to walk around. The whole experience kind of turned me off from her to be honest.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

I've come to dislike her bridal hairstyles. They look really nice if you are going duputtaless, or a mehndi style but with a heavy duputta on the head, they don't give the right effect. Everything seems so tight and flat and just spoils the whole look imo.

And the lack of fake lashes is annoying. You can get very soft natural fake lashes and it's what gives the makeup some 'ommph'; I think some of her brides could really do with them.

Giggles, you're absolutely right about her being a little full of herself and talking about it non-stop. I either tuned it out, and just kept nodding, or talked to my sisters. Does this mean you won't be going to her for your big day?

Otherwise, I think I was really lucky, since I was the only bride booked for that day, so I got my full share of attention, and there was enough space too, Alhamdullilah. I can't thank God enough for the great experience I had...

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

confused............ :(
shud i book her or not...
m having my wedding in january...
where shud i get my make up done...
suggestions plz???

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

^Have you seen her makeup/portfolio? Book her if you like her work.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

I don't think I will! I went to Shamain for a consultation and she was very sweet and helpful, and a couple of brides I've seen by her recently were really good. I wasn't impressed by her portfolio at first but I suppose it's outdated because she did a much better job on the real life brides I've seen recently. So I might go to her!
I'm so glad you had gotten lucky and had a good experience with Bina though! I hope I have the same IA, regardless of who I choose!

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

I recently had my haircut done by Nadya, I was happy with the end result as it looked exactly what I had asked for. I went in thinking that Nadya would be easy to talk and friendly but it was nothing like that she didn't really speak throughout the haircut. Hair wash and the cut was done entirely by Nadya, she started to style it too but then she had to leave and 2 assistants started working on me while she worked on another client. I didn't like how she opened my hair without any notice to have a look at how long my hair was a warning or a signal that I'm about to touch your hair would have been great. I paid Rs2000, also on the day it was quite busy cus there was 1 bridal and a couple more engagement appointments and as luck would have it the lights went out and the generator wouldn't work either so it took almost 30-45 minutes after the wash that Nadya started on my haircut. To compensate for that i was given a free Hair protein.

My sister also booked her hair appointment with her (she would have gone to depilex cus my cousin said good things about them) only because they were offering it for Rs1500 lol same price as depliex so she went with Bina Khan. Her experience with Nadya was much more pleasant no light issues and it was less busy cus there were no bridals that day either. I think they key is too book appointment in the mooring when it would be less busy so they would spend more time on you. I have to say her staff is well trained and very polite.Bina Khan seemed quite polite too, she opened the door for us and said salam to my mom. I will be going in before eid for my mani/pedi and the free hair protein.

I really want to try Raintree, but don't think that would be possible now cus I'm leaving in September so probably on my next trip to Karachi Inshllah.

Re: Bina Khan experiences.

Hi
Im having my wedding in Pakistan and iv been searching for a excellent make-up artist, so i emailed Bina khan and i just want to say she is rude not polite what so ever. I wanted to queryif she could do home service and costs and the way she replied was like abrupt, not helpful at all.

Hope this helps.
