practice makes perfect! i have been waxing myself for years...and its great...dont wax right after your period or right before..your skin is verrrry sensitive during those days...
take a couple of advils 30 min before you start..
gigi cream wax (the salon i used to go to used this and it gave me perfect results..i just silently observed and started doing it on my own)
i use the white cloth strips, cut each strip in 3 pieces..its easier to wax smaller areas..
powder area before you wax..
after waxing, rub baby oil to remove all the wax..remember if you have oil on your body you cant wax..the wax wont stick....you ll have to wash and dry..powder then start again.
any redness, hydrocortisone cream takes care of it..
chanda you are an expert :) your tips are really worth noting.
thanks
hi...i read all the thread...really very interesting!! and i can say waxing is the best u can do!!
just wanted to ask whats the different of "normal wax" and "cream wax"??
and another question...dunno how to ask (so i am sorry if i cant it describe on a gently way....)
gals do u also remove, wax however...the hairs behind?? i mean behind the brazilian/hollywood zone...??? if yes...how do u do that...because its impossible to remove then on urself....
hahha i also think so..but a weirdo friend does it...and i was a bit shocked....she said, she does it professionally..n i said i dont think its necessar. but then i started to think perhaps females do it and i am the only one who doesnt do it hahaha
What's the difference :S I always thought brazilain/Bikini wax was the same. PLUS doesn't one have to have longer hair in order to remove the hair completely from the pubic area? And how do you do it yourself? I got no idea, but shaving is just really disgusting.
haaaw.. how can you all bear the pain! I will probably wait for some time until i do waxing down there... and i think i will do it at home myself cuz i'd never dare to have it done by someone!
Honestly its not that bad girls! Maybe Im just nuts, but I actually find waxing my underarms more painful than a brazilian! Or actually I should say a hollywood, I thought I was doing brazilian all this time but from this post I learnt it was actually a hollywood hahaha. Just do small sections at a time, sitting in front of a mirror, and you will eventually get really efficient as you get more practice. Be sure to keep the skin pulled tight and gently exfoliate to prevent ingrowns. You can even try using a topical numbing cream maybe to help with pain, I havent ever, but Ive heard from others who have. Dont wait until you are getting married to start, start off at least a few months before, so you get the hang of things. Its really worth it because you stay soft and smooth for so long and its not at all difficult to do at home. Im just worried about what will happen with I get pregnant inshallah, now that will probably be difficult! Someone I know actually told me that she got her husband to wax her when she was pregnant because she couldnt reach over her huge belly
^lol
all you need is an old bed sheet, cushions to add height (off the floor) and a floor length mirror (the $10 kind so you can move it around where ever you need it)..also a magnifying mirror (with a stand) helps a LOT!.
sit on the cushions (with the bed sheet over them), in front of the mirror...light a bright lamp for good vision..then practice...positioning/waxing as you go....it wont be perfect the first time..but you will get better at it...give it time.
Regarding waxing down there, I get it done at a salon and it does hurt but its bearable, although my first time was a nightmare as I had bruises! but It was cause I went to the wrong place, before you go, ask people etc. That area is very sensitive and if you dont wax properly, your prone to infections. but waxing is the BEST, a few hours of dis-comfort and a little pain for smoothness which lasts a month and unlike razor's its not itchy affterwards and hair doesnt grow back thicker, altho Ive got alotta ingrown hair on my legs, what do I do?
Ive used pumice stones, scurbs, EVERYTHING. I even got this 40 dollar Glycolic Acid Cream/lotion, 8% Glycollic Acid, but it really hasn't helped that much..
^i have the same issue!!! ahhh it drives me nuts, im seriously considering laser or electrolysis. i read online somewhere that you should use tendskin...but i havent tried that yet on ingrown hairs.
:S So you uses those waxing stripes for it? Or this hot warm wax, I have no idea how to handle it. I only got those stripes by VEET or so. I have no idea how long the hairs have to be in order to get a clean result, but I won't shave again, I just think it's disgusting...
Chanda, your tipps are helpful, I gotta figure out when to try it, as I'm mostly NOT alone at home -.-
people with ingrown legs on bikini area or legs - Laser!
best thing i've ever done. read my numerous posts on this topic, lol.
if you don't want it ALL gone, you can still have one or two treatments over the whole area. this will thin out the hair and make it a bit finer without making it bald. subsequent treatments can be for the bikini line area only (bikini-thong is best) to clear it to the limit that the laser can do.
