Even if that is true, everyone needs to support the calls to end extortion in the city. But I guess for some people, hatred of MQM overshadows the good of people.
Following article says that your claim that MQM is doing it only because it is losing its share, is false. it says that the situation has gone worse only recently.
The day MQM totally stops extortion and then makes a complain then I will support the call, until then it is nothing short of crying when loot has to be shared or when other looters encroach the MQM dominated areas.

It’s so strange that the president is saying that the issue can be resolved in 4-5 days, if it was so simple why does the government keep sleeping till the end and only react when confronted? Even if mqm had not brought this issue up the traders are already fed up and agitating.

Well, I can bet my life that people like you will never be satisfied with MQM. So all I am saying is that you support calls for end of crime in Karachi streets. That's it. Why the hesitation?
And if you think MQM is the one doing most extortion and then calling itself for action against it then call MQM's bluff and support the operation against people involved in these crimes.
If MQM's calls are political stunt then these "stunts" are the voice of people of the city. People want to get rid of these crimes.

In 4-5 days they can only make some action. And as soon as this time period is over, they will let things go the usual way.
I hope the government is serious but I think government is only trying to appease MQM and these actions appear toothless.

Zardari is infamous for corruption. Now if Zardari had demanded end of corruption and opening of cases against those involved in corruption then investigations would have led to his own arrest. This is why he doesn't talk about end of corruption.
Similarly if MQM is the only source of extortion and other street crimes in the city and if it is the one demanding action to stop extortion and other street crimes then MQM's opponents should jump on this opportunity to expose MQM by really going after people doing these crimes. If MQM is doing it then it will be MQMers who will be caught in that operation. Thus MQM will be the overall loser.
So why doesn't everyone support MQM's calls for end of extortion?
That's the point.
Like I said, I don't think MQM has its hands completely clean. But to abuse MQM alone for the crimes committed more by others really is not good. Our focus in this thread shouldn't be MQM and its policies rather the focus should be how to end these crimes in the city.

He was not ISI chief at that time but rather core commander in KHI.
