Average household income in Irvine is around 115k and sky is the limit …
115k annual i’m assuming … so that means about $9500 per month … which means about 7000 euros … *REALLY? *one person earning or more?? if i’m not mistaken, in a job, you can’t earn higher than 4500 or 5000 euros. and that too you reach after years of promotion. and after tax deduction, you’re left with .. ddaaammnn … the higher you’re earning, the higher the tax … so not much …
i am so confused!
s the earning capacity higher in america? :n00b:
I am talking about IRVINE, CA and not whole US.
Average single person income in Irvine is around 85k-90k and Average household income is around 115k. Average house value in Irvine is around $0.7 million
Thats why I said, all the advantages of Irvine comes with the price tag. If you need more info

Re: Best place to live in the UK/USA ..
Just to put in prospective, in 2005 total number of murders in OC was 1. I am sure it has its own problem areas but most of the areas were so peaceful. :)
You do not consider Santa Ana and Little Saigon part of OC ?
Re: Best place to live in the UK/USA ..
^^ Ignore all these posts .
California is the BEST . Weather . Job . Desi Community . Name it , and its better than any other place .
The best cities to live in are Sunnyvale , San Jose , Mountain View , Palo alto . This area is full of highly educated people and also knows as Silicon Valley . Come on you'll be living next to Google , San Francisco and Stanford University . What else you want :D
Farrah said "not very high rent".
If you don't have an annual income of 130-150k then don't think of moving to the Silicon valley. Even then you can pretty much forget about buying a decent size home here. Cost of living is very high and half of the time you'd be stuck on freeway.
San Diego (So Cal) is a very nice place to live. Awsome weather, beaches, nice rexaled culture and amazing people. Its not very cheap but worth it. But not a whole lot of desis.
Re: Best place to live in the UK/USA ..
Oh for heaven sake farrah! Living in UK specially when you r so selective and new to this move would be a disaster.
UK is small and over crowded where the jobs are. If you r new and wish to be near the 'job market' then you might have to sacrifice your Serene dreams. no pun intended
In a nutshell UK is a horrible place to live or raise a family. (I would know because I was raised there)!!
Think about your 'residential status and rights' Will you be considered a 1st grade citizen or 2nd grade citizen,,etc etc worst racism records in Europe.
Think Canada the only country which addresses your 'Charter of Rights' ,, play it safe for your family !
Re: Best place to live in the UK/USA ..
raindance - uk has the worst racism records in europe? Evidence please!

What ever I say and write about British Rednecks becomes evidence!!!
Racism in Britain is complicated and widespread. I was not born in Britain but I grew up there from boy to my teen and then a man!
My brother-in-law is an ex MP and an active community race relation officer. very senior in his profile.
Thanks to my airline affiliation with an airline I was in Europe more than I care to remember and I do have my favorite spots in EU and Britain is not in the list.
However, races have adopted well as new generation is well on its feet and mingle well with British culture.

Your own personal experiences with racism in the UK is simply that, your own personal experience. It doesnt equate to actual statistics or facts about the UK having the worst racism record, therefore you shouldnt write what isnt true or what you have no actual hard evidence to back up.
im also sorry that you had a bad experience here, ive lived in the UK all my life and though i dont know how it compares to other places, i know its very multi cultural and a fairly tolerant place to make your home, providing you avoid the council estates and whatnot.
Re: Best place to live in the UK/USA ..
^Exactly..
If a person only has experience of living in the more run-down areas that isn't representative of the whole of the UK and besides every country has its 'bad' parts.. Generally in the big cities here nobody is bothered about a woman wearing hijab and there are no plans to ban the burqa or clamp down on the headscarf - unlike in a couple of other European countries (as well as a few Muslim ones!)..
Re: Best place to live in the UK/USA ..
My parents use to live in the UK, (London) before they moved to America in the 80's.
They like it here much better, lower taxes, better spread out cities etc...I've been to London, still have cousins there, I don't like it.
Its crowded and trashy, plus smells like urine. Everything costs more.
Plus you could get a huge mansion with a pool in Houston for what a run down closet in London would cost you.
Canada is nice, its like America but cleaner.
Re: Best place to live in the UK/USA ..
^Only the rubbish parts of London are crowded and trashy (like New York and nearly every major city).. Can't exactly call Hampstead, St. John's Wood, Knightsbrige, Kensington or even more middle class areas like Islington that.. Unfortunately, the majority of desis live in the more downmarket areas..
Of course u can get a mansion in Houston for the price of a an apartment in a decent part of London, it's far less desirable..

I'm talking about in general, every place even Karachi has nice parts, but in general its a dump.
Yeah London has nice parts I saw them too, but in general its crowded and dirty, come on, even people who live there admit that.
Cheap real estate here is due to the fact that there is vast amounts of land here, not like over crowded London. Everything is spread out or as my parents say "khola khola"
Think about it why do so many Brits move here then? To Florida, Texas, California or even to Australia etc..?
As far as desire goes Tokyo has the most expensive real estate, that doesn't make it a desirable place to live. It has to do with low availability of land on which to live on.
A shack is a shack, doesn't matter if its in London with a 300,000 pound price tag, or Ghana, its a shack. Just means more of your disposable income is used up.
The only reason people move to London, is THERE IS NO OTHER MAJOR CITY IN BRITAIN, London is all you got, yeah there is Manchester, Birmingham etc..but those aren't major cities or anything, you have one major international city, that's it, so of course everyone will move there.
The rest are just smaller towns with dirty chavs.
Give me wide smooth freeways, big malls, and big houses, over crowded, dingy , over taxed, and urine filled London any day. ( What my cousin from London said upon visiting Dallas).
Re: Best place to live in the UK/USA ..
Houston fits all your criterias...
Re: Best place to live in the UK/USA ..
I've been to Houston loads of times (got family in Sugarland) and whilst it's v.cheap in terms of property u could hardly make out it's any more desirable than London, it also has it's dump areas (I guess all those Mexicans there are the equivalent of our 'underclass' of Pakistanis and Bangladeshis in London)..
Apart from London, Birmingham, Oxford, Liverpool, Manchester and Edinburgh are all major cities.. They don't have the size of Texas but then again size isn't everything :D
A lot of Brits might move to the US (usually for the cheaper cost of living) but then again a lot of them move to Australia and Spain as well.. There are pluses and minuses to moving to the US, the cost of living might be cheaper but there aren't as many desis or the widespread availability of halal food that we have in London, Houston in particular obviously has that extreme heat outdoors that a lot of ppl would find untolerable whilst in London it might be cool most of the year but it we don't often get those unbearable extremes that make it a misery to spend extended periods of time outdoors..
Also, London has world-reputable unis like Kings, LSE and UCL whilst Houston has bog-standard education, really u would need to leave the city to study anywhere top-notch..One of my aunties and her family left New York to live in Houston but got fed up because they said it was 'uncultured.' It's all swings and roundabouts tho so course it would depend on what ur priorities are.. If u are after a big house and as cheap a living standard as possible course Houston would win hands down but that's not the be all and end all of it..
Re: Best place to live in the UK/USA ..
I don't know what are trying to defend here ! LMAO
And did I say I had some bad personal experiences ??? I guess you'r blinded in your quest.
Seriously ! I was in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Blackburn, Liverpool and of-course my all time favorite 'Lake District' July/August 2009
I saw no significant changes but I noticed how deprived and 'mock happy' every one was
I saw more mosques and hijabs, I saw cultural division, I saw very rare Caucasian mingling with Asian. Heck I'm not even talking about my historical College converted into a Campus !!
Now,,Are you and few other posters ^ suggesting that Post 911 and then London Bombing HAD NO effects on your daily lives.
I'm suggesting to the 'Thread Starter' Make sure you know of all the facts from the word of mouth as well as statistics if they make any sense to you, before you bring your beloved family to Britain or the Usa.
