I've been to Houston loads of times (got family in Sugarland) and whilst it's v.cheap in terms of property u could hardly make out it's any more desirable than London, it also has it's dump areas (I guess all those Mexicans there are the equivalent of our 'underclass' of Pakistanis and Bangladeshis in London)..
Apart from London, Birmingham, Oxford, Liverpool, Manchester and Edinburgh are all major cities.. They don't have the size of Texas but then again size isn't everything :D
A lot of Brits might move to the US (usually for the cheaper cost of living) but then again a lot of them move to Australia and Spain as well.. There are pluses and minuses to moving to the US, the cost of living might be cheaper but there aren't as many desis or the widespread availability of halal food that we have in London, Houston in particular obviously has that extreme heat outdoors that a lot of ppl would find untolerable whilst in London it might be cool most of the year but it we don't often get those unbearable extremes that make it a misery to spend extended periods of time outdoors..
Also, London has world-reputable unis like Kings, LSE and UCL whilst Houston has bog-standard education, really u would need to leave the city to study anywhere top-notch..One of my aunties and her family left New York to live in Houston but got fed up because they said it was 'uncultured.' It's all swings and roundabouts tho so course it would depend on what ur priorities are.. If u are after a big house and as cheap a living standard as possible course Houston would win hands down but that's not the be all and end all of it..

Unfortunately Houston with desi mix is as bad an example as you care to know. Then you compare London and its unis and land marks with it totally makes sense ... LOL

That would cover a very big chunk of the map ! From North of Dundee to all they way down to Southampton!!!
Ps: to my observation I found more and more Asians involved in corner shop businesses of eating places or just any thing come s to mind. For example I’m talking about ‘Golders Green’ once a nice place to own a property.
Raindance, most of those places u mentioned have v.large 'clusters' of Pakistanis.. unfortunately when u get too many of us we tend to ruin the environments we're living in.. poverty, dirty streets etc :(
My sister and her Husband + Son (Lawyer) and Bahoo(Doctor) are in North of Lancs and they live among very close knit Caucasian mix
This past Halloween parties proved to be very encouraging and friendly. London clearly sucks ! :D
